“incredible, spacious viila with great views right on the sea, affordable, luxurious”
Reviewed 19 August 2015 for a stay in February 2015

My Husband and I and another couple had a wonderful vacation in Jamaica. We stayed in the spacious master bedroom and loft bedroom suites, both facing the sea. It included a kitchen, living room/dining room and large veranda with many windows all around. The sea views were spectacular and the nights under the stars were particularly nice. It was very quiet (to sleep) and the evening breezes were delightful!

The staff at Avita made our stay especially comfortable and relaxing. They were always willing to answer any questions or guide us in making decisions regarding where to eat, the swimming beaches and how to access restaurants that were reasonable. If you like to kayak, or bike, just ask. They are also available for your use.

The property manager, Josh was fantastic and assisted us in many ways to experience the “Real Jamaica”.

I especially enjoyed travelling up the Black River by boat and seeing the Morass, the largest fresh water eco- system in Caribbean. It reminded me of the Everglades. Also, a boat trip to the Pelican Bar is not to be missed. The bar is approximately ½ mile off shore, built on a sandbar, known as one of the “coolest” bars in the world. You will also meet many people from all over the world there. In addition, you can have a fish dinner in the middle of the ocean. Wow! I wore my bathing suit so I could enjoy the surrounding waters that are quite shallow. Many folks take their drinks and wade or snorkel in the water surrounding the bar.

There are many beaches close by; all are special in their own way. Don’t forget to bring your water shoes and suntan lotion with you!

I am a “foodie”. I especially enjoyed eating at Jakes Place and the Lobster Pot. Other restaurants nearby, include Frenchman’s Reef, a diverse menu, Smurfs (for breakfast), and Gee Wiz , a vegetarian restaurant. Little Ochi, a trip(1hour away) has great lobster and shrimp.

So, if you are looking for the REAL JAMAICA, come to this area. It is very safe and the Jamaican people are very helpful and friendly.

Management Response

We were not at the property during S & P and F & A's visit. Our property manager, Josh, greeted and oriented the guest and was always available during their stay- he lives next door, a 5 minute walk. I heard from Josh, and that the staff cried when they went departed, and the guests were active: biking, wading in the sea, kayaking, and taking long walks, and they enjoyed the many local restaurants and also hired a chief for several dinners prepared at the villa. Thanks to the staff our guest gave us a "10" and we all welcome their return.
