“Lovely once you settle into the local rhythms...”
Reviewed 11 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Scenic location in hills above Naples; lovely spot (once you find it). The apartment gave spacious accommodation for our family of 4; clean, and nicely maintained (though the kitchen is starting to feel worn in places). Carlo is friendly and helpful - though he has a number of apartments and some of the photos on the site appear to be from different apartments, so some things might not look as you first expected.
Local info to help: the apartment power sockets are the European 3-pin style rather than the 2-pin sort, so take the right travel adaptors. Be aware that the afternoon siesta is long in this part of Italy; supermarkets in Maiori etc. close from around 1pm until 5pm (so plan your arrival day food accordingly - or hunt out the Carrefour on the outskirts of Naples). The TV in the apartment was convenient, though offers only a limited range of English language channels (Carlo has a large video collection available - though sadly told us the video player is broken...).
The Pool was lovely, and only a short car ride from the apartment (once you know where it is) - we went there roughly alternate days and had a great time.
There are local buses, though we used the hire car to get around, and after a couple of days you get used to the local roads (don't expect a 'right of way'; just relax and it'll all work out fine - though buses on the Amalphi coast road result in queues as vehicles squeeze past each other - tuck your wing mirrors in if you need some extra inches!).
Parking at the apartment was never a problem during our stay, though can be difficult in towns and beach towns (particularly at the weekends). Keep lots of loose change handy for parking machines and toll roads - and enjoy relaxing into Italian country life at Carlo's place!

“Fabulous holiday on Amalfi Coast”

We travelled with two young children (4 1/2 and 18 months) and my wife's mother.

The first few days were a challenge. There was no swimming pool as had been advertised. It was actually 2km away from the house (at a site where they have other apartments apparently) and anyway, the pool was not ready. We wanted a garden with a pool so we could relax whilst the baby took an afternoon nap, to give us that flexibility of staying at home or going to the beach.

This disappointment was made worse by how difficult the driving is. We had a hire car and in the first two days had made two big scratches in the paintwork due to how narrow the roads are. It really takes some getting used to.

However, once we got into the swing of things and began to visit and spend time in such extraordinarily beautiful places such as Ravello, Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri....and, of course, 15 mins down the mountain and on the beach in Maiori.....this really became one of the most magical holidays we have ever had.

It isn't cheap. Another disappointment of not having the pool was that we had to pay for everything when we went to the beach: parking, a parasol, and then you end up eating out for lunch etc etc. But it is well well worth it. I don't know if we have ever seen so many beautiful views and small towns in one place.

I highly recommend June if you can. Nowhere was packed and the weather was ideal. 27c or thereabouts almost everyday with a few thunderstorms but never humid or sticky.

The owner, Giuseppe, was extremely kind, helpful and apologetic for the problems he was having with the pool. The house was very comfortable with a bathroom upstairs and downstairs and with spectacular views of the tree-laden mountains.

The daily routine that most worked for us was:
Head to the beach in Maiori in the morning so the kids could play.
Either lunch in Maiori or back at the house.
In the afternoon drive to one of the other towns (mainly the incomparably beautiful Ravello 40 mins on reasonable non-scary roads) for exploration and dinner.

We also did a day trip to Positano on one of the regular boats that go every hour from Maiori. Very enjoyable. Plus a boat trip to Capri with one of tour operators. It's a long day and you only get 3 hours on Capri but, holy guacamole, Capri is so beautiful. Make sure you get the funicular to the top. If God liked shopping, he'd do it in Capri. Not because he'd buy anything, just because he liked how beautiful the environ was.

Pompeii was spectacular and Sorrento is a good 1hr and 20 mins away but well worth it.

Wasn't blown away by the food. In Maiori we liked Nettuna and Mammato...as well as sitting on the terrace at El Dorado.
Everyone, once in their lifetime, should go to Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. It is probably the most romantic and beautiful hotel and gardens I have ever seen. But my wife looked at the rooms online afterwards and said they weren't decorated nicely.
Also in Ravello there is a strip of upmarket hotels on the Via San Giovanni del Toro which have spectacular views. The Palazzo Avino had the biggest wow factor and seemed full of more of the beautiful people when we were there.

This was our last holiday before the enforced horror of school holiday summer holidays. What a way to go out in style.

“good place but need some improvments”

We, a family of five, spent 8 days in Antico Borgo del Pozzo (in the 2nd floor flat). The place has some clear advantages and disadvantages.
On the positive side, the location is very good. It is about 20 min. from Maiori and the Amalfi coast road, but since it is in the mountains you can also visit the attractions of Napoli bay area (Napels, mt. Vezuv, Pompei etc.). Tramonti itself is very (!) beautiful and just across the street there's a small grocery shop. The place is spacious and the kitchen has most things you need.
On the negative side, the place is a bit hard to find. When we finally found it we had to wait about 25 minutes for the owner to come. As for the place itself, it was not very clean and the beds are of poor quality. The kithchen is a bit old, and every time we tried to use the oven the electricty was shot down and finally we gave up.The place had (slow) internet access but the owner charged us extra for that. Unlike it was promised, the place did not provide soap or shampoo but only a low qulaity hands soap.
Overall, it was ok and we enjoined our stay, but mostly because of the amazing area. The from the place is breathtaking!

We love everything about our stay at Carlo's place! Great location and stunning views to admire! The apartment is spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. The owner was very friendly and helpful and advised on different walks we could take and food at the local Pizzeria San Francisco recommended by him and which is also one of the top restaurants in this area, was fantastic.! We would definitely come back !!!!
