Well as I stated the views are just amazing . My daughter said her muffin was nice ...but our pies were cold .We sent them back and what came back resembled baked dog vomit .To be fair this was in summer and they had probably been there since last ski seasons .
The place was clean and warm though ..so I added a star

Hi,
Thank you for your review. We agree, the views here are amazing and as a dual heritage National Park is a stunning place to experience.

Sadly, your food didn’t match the views.
Thankyou for your feedback as it allows us to continue to improve what we do every day and I have passed your feedback onto our chef who is sincerely apologetic.

We hope you can come back and join us again in the future.

Warm regards
Phil Neal

At an altitude of 2000m, there's nowhere in New Zealand with a more spectacular view for a drink or lunch. In summer, it's the perfect spot for a refreshment after a walk on Mt Raupehu, and in winter it's the place to chill between runs down the slopes at Whakapapa. The food may be a bit more expensive than other places, but the unique setting compensates for this.

Great experience having coffee in the highest cafe in NZ.
We love the coffee, we had snack food which was good also.
Staff friendly, prices quite high but to be expected .Quite a mission to get food up there.

They quite obviously couldn't care less about the standards.
I came here in February this year and it was ok, the views made up for the average service and below average coffee.
But I visited again on Saturday and found everything very much below what I'd expected. Having worked in a ski field cafe all season, I had came up to have a look around and see how other places did it. The staff were rude/unfriendly, they got our order wrong, took incredibly long to make three coffees and the hot (!) chips were anything but. So so so disappointing. And because it's the only cafe, they get away with it. Shame really.

Hi Justine,
Thank you for your feedback.

Your experience is very disappointing. Knoll Ridge cafe is a fabulous location and the food/experience should match and clearly it didn’t in your instance.

We have completely redesigned our menu and offering at Knoll Ridge cafe as a result of customer feedback and commentary and are really excited about the new offering.

There are no justifications for poor service and is never acceptable. Please accept our apologies for your experience.

Warm regards
Phil Neal

Typical tourist-cafe fare. Sandwiches, pies and a few mains - mostly involving chips (fries). Coffee was just awful.
Not cheap and very crowded. We would have gone elsewhere, if it hadn't involved a trip back down the mountain.
They might have a captive clientele, but not a reason to provide poor-quality food.

Hi,
Thank you for your review.
Knoll Ridge Cafe is an incredible draw card and can get busy during peak times in winter.

That said, it is no excuse for poor range or quality.

I would be keen to chat through some more it's you your views of Knoll Ridge Cafe. Menus and food delivery is something that our team are always working hard to improve and customer commentary is great in helping with this.

I would appreciate it if you could contact me at pneal@mtruapehu.com to enable me to get some greater detail and potential ideas so we can make right what didn't go to plan the day you visited.
Warm regards
