Weekday Getaway A+

Second time staying at this quaint little mote. Friendly fast check in. Rooms are basic but clean and neat. There is a coffee maker & fridge in the room. Beds are comfortable and lots of pillows. The best part is the balcony and
absolutely fantastic views of lock 7. The hotel is off the beaten path but only 15 minutes from Clifton Hills. We took our bikes and the trails are 1 minute from the hotel you can ride right alongside the canal for miles. I would recommend this place for the traveler looking for a peaceful way to end the day

The rooms are cozy and we have a big balcony overlooking the canal. Got to watch several ships come in including a cruise ship. The air conditioning in the room is at the front of the door which has a cubby hole area and all the cold air stayed in that area. So I was hot that night. I had to go out and buy a big fan to put in the entrance to draw the cold air into our room, so I was much cooler the second night. They should supply fans for every room to accommodate that problem. I’ve heard others complain about that too. The rooms are very clean. There is no extra blankets supplied you get a sheet and one thin blanket. They had NO ice in their ice machine saying it’s closed for COVID. This is July 2023 COVID is long over. That’s an excuse to be cheap and I was pissed I had to buy really expensive ice at the convenience store when the hotel should be supplying it especially when you spend $180/night. There was no microwave in the room and the fridge is not cold enough to hold beer. The beds were ok. Comfy enough but bounced around if you moved too much so they were not sturdy. The area is safe and beautiful with a few awesome restaurants within walking distance. All in all I still liked it here minus a few things and I would return.

Hello and thank you for staying with us. Your feedback and suggestions are welcome. We would have been glad to address all your concerns during your stay. Extra blankets and pillows were available in the dresser drawer. Table fan was available on request. Ice would have been made available as well. Microwave was available to use near the front desk area. Any inconvenience caused is regretted. We always ensure our guests have the best possible experience at the Inn. Thanks and hope to see you again!

Upfront disclaimer: This review is about my experience with the Inn although I wasn’t able to stay there.
I booked a room at the inn 2-3 weeks before a planned trip. The next day I got a call from the manager— Apparently I indicated that I would arrive at midnight, after their office closed, and they wanted to make arrangements so I could get into my room. I explained that it was a mistake on my part and we both laughed.
But then two days before I was due to travel, a state of emergency due to heavy snow was declared over most of my route. I immediately wrote to the inn, explaining that I had to cancel because of the weather. Again, the manager called and assured me that there would be no charge even though I was past the free cancellation period. He seemed genuinely concerned about my need to cancel and was reassuring about not charging.
Such great customer service is rare! I bet that the inn staff treats guests who are fortunate enough to stay there as well as they treated me by phone. I will definitely stay there when I am able to reschedule my trip!

We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is quiet and on a pretty street. Owner is friendly and view of ships passing through the lock is amazing. Hotel is a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. Nice unique place to stay in pleasant small town.

Rather than book online I phoned to check on accessibility. I have sever mobility restrictions and needed to know that my room would accessible without stairs. We was told it was a three story walk-up, but that we could have a ground floor room with walk-in access. That room had a step and was not grade level even though I was led to believe that it was walk-in access. When we arrived the person on duty had no record of my request and offered to change our room the next day. I had a flight of 6 stairs to negotiate. Plus, we would have to pack up and change rooms the net day. The beds in both rooms were very, very hard and uncomfortable. While the air conditioner worked it pumped the cold air into an alcove where it stayed. While the AC was set to 20C the room ranged from 22-24.5C, not conducive to a good night's sleep.

Room tip: All rooms in this hotel have a view of the lock. It is basic and clean. If you like a hard bed and a warm room, this hotel is for you.

Hello Marion Jenkins,
Thank you for staying with us. It is very unfortunate and disappointing to see your review ratings. As mentioned to your husband, we had no record of any ground floor room request when making reservations over the phone. Your request was fulfilled the next day. Our ground floor rooms are walk-out rooms and not wheel chair accessible. Air conditioning settings can go as low as 16 C. It is very surprising, you did not mention any of your concerns during your 3 night stay. We would have been happier to address those concerns right away. We regret, your experience was not great. We are committed to offer excellent customer service to all our guests. Thank you!

We were there recently for the Canada Summer Games, came across this reasonably priced hotel. It did not disappoint. While being straight out of the seventies, it was clean, well appointed and the staff was very accommodating, and helpful. Being beside the locks was very interesting and the small town feel was great. Many beautiful homes around, the locks were right in front of the hotel. A few good restaurants and a 7 11 very close by. The Pho 18 restaurant was fantastic. I would stay again.
