We stayed at Pietre Nere Resort for one week in June, the hotel is spotless and had great outdoor space including extensive pool and sunbathing areas. There was absolutely no crush around the pool or at breakfast and on few occasions we found ourselves to be the only people at the pool or in the dining room!
Bedrooms are modern and functional with very large comfortable beds. The Sky TV is freely available with only circa 5 English language channels, pay to view was available for movies if required. Mini bar was rather limited but a bar area is available opposite reception. The staff were welcoming and efficient and everyone tried hard to make our stay as enjoyable as possible making suggestions for nearby attractions and City visits.
I must mention the hotel sits I splendid isolation in effectively open countryside so a car really is essential.
Nearby only 5 minutes drive is the Baroque City of Modica, personally I preferred traveling a little further to Ragusa Ibla which is circa 20 mins from the Hotel and boasts a 2 Star Michelin restaurant as well as spectacular architecture and extensive views.
All in all a very good base to explore Southern Sicily, it's peaceful and quiet but perfect if your looking for a complete rest.

The two/three floor building is quite modern. Currently construction work is going on as a spa will be added.
There is a large courtyard with plenty of space where you can park for free.
The Pietre Nere is located on one of the arterial roads going into Modica. It is about 5 km from downtown.
Reception at the front desk was strikingly friendly and information willingly provided. The staff spoke good English.
We only had breakfast at the hotel, because dinner is not served before 20:00. Breakfast was of very good quality with a focus on excellent pastry, but there were also warm dishes like bacon and scrambled eggs.
Our bright room was decorated completely in white and offered a view of the outdoor pool. The bed was large and had a good mattress. All home furnishing items worked perfectly.
But there were also shortcomings. The safe was much too small and did not offer sufficient space for a tablet. Surprisingly for a rather new building there was only an insufficient number of electrical outlets in the room. So we had to unplug lamp in order to have at least one electrical socket available needed to recharge our electronic equipment.
The TV offered hundreds of programs. It would be helpful if a channel list was provided to avoid extensive zapping.
Considering the somewhat remote location of the hotel the signal strength and speed of the free Wi-Fi was quite OK.
The Pietre Nere was one of the best hotels we came across on our round trip of eastern Sicily especially if you consider the value for money.

Stayed there with family. Just 10 mins drive from beautiful baroque Modica. Comfortable rooms, beautiful countryside, excellent breakfast. In February hotel was not busy at all but would imagine it to be full come summer. Also wedding receptions & parties going on which I imagine would be noisy. Nevertheless, would definitely visit again.

Preferring a quiet location above staying in nearby Modica, my wife and I stayed here only one night in October. But since this hotel lies in the middle of nowhere indeed, it is better to have your own wheels. But with a car, this hotel is perfectly located for exploring nearby Cava d'Ispica. Maybe, this hotel is frequented in the high season by tour groups to visit the Cava as its size seems a little bit out of place. It is indeed a big and modern hotel, featuring a big parking lot, a huge lounge and a large swimming pool. Anyway, off-season it was very quiet there. The standard twin room we had was very spacious with a stylish design décor and a large terrace that was as big as the room itself. Wifi was free and the signal was actually the best we had all over Sicily. Breakfast was plentiful, offering scrambled eggs and bacon on top of the normal Sicilian fare of yoghourt, cereals, breads and croissants, a choice of ham and cheese plus the obligatory fruit pies, cakes and cookies. We also had dinner here, which was good but nothing really special. Would we stay here again? A positive yes!

Modern resort, very stylish and clean. Friendly staff. Large rooms and modern. Good diner (4 courses) for a good price and an extensive lovely breakfast. Direct area outside the resort is not very spectacular, but nearest city, Modica, is nice.
