Beautiful house in wonderful grounds within a short distance of the lovely towns of Aubeterre and St. Aulaye. We had a fantastic week here with our young family and will certainly be back again! The swimming pool is great, and very child friendly as it is gated. The views are stunning. All in all a great place to stay.
We spent 10 nights here with our grown up family. It was a perfect holiday for all of us. The location of this house is quiet and restful with stunning views from the patio. The house is very homely and vey well equipped. It has a lovely big en suite shower room and an extra bathroom. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable.
There is a lovely evening walk to do and there is a small pool, again surrounded by beautiful views and is just short walk away across the garden. The tennis courts and boules court were also great for family games evenings.
The nearby river beach is well worth visiting and Aubettere is a quaint small town with lovely restaurants and a few shops. Canoeing can be done on the river here. There are local boulangeries and patisseries nearby too. Further afield we visited St. Emilion, Bergerac and Riberac where there is a great weekly market
All in all I would recommend this place to anyone needing a relaxing holiday in beautiful French countryside. Perfect for couples or families who are happy to swim, read, walk, play games and generally just chill out.
We will definately return.
My husband, 3 teenagers and I stayed for a week at the end of August and had a fantastic holiday - a great mix of total quiet relaxation & activity. The house was extremely well equipped and with a wonderful layout - the new en-suite shower room was great! Our favourite place was sitting on the patio with the stunning view over the fields - either at breakfast with fresh croissants from the local bakery or in the evenings with great & cheap local wine & BBQ, We had a hoopoe visit us, made friends with the lizard family & the ponies. We swam and played in the swimming pool every day and played tennis & boules. The other owners were friendly and good company but never intrusive. We had some great day trips - the highlights were canoeing in Brantome and wine tasting & sightseeing along the Dordogne to Bergerac, Eymet & Beynac. Only improvement would be clearer instructions to find it on arrival in the pitch black!
