What a great place to stay while visiting Wanaka! Wish we had planned to stay here longer. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment, it had great facilities, very clean & breakfast in the dinning area was great. The gym and pool area were great too.

Bit disappointing ...
At check in, checked in and was handed an A4 sheet of paper telling me everything I needed to know would be on that... ummm ok.
We got to our studio suite room .... few issues , nothing major but not fantastic ....in the early evening when we arrived and the room heater wasn't working and dials couldn't be turned, anyway must have been on a timer because it was working when we came home from dinner ....
Ensuite was pokey and the shower floods the bathroom floor and toilet area with the glass door shut fully :( Impractical ...
Bed doesn't have a bed head which just seems a bit strange and cutting corners ....
Unfortunately we didn't check before hand but it is also a fair way (i.e. not walking distance) out of the town centre ...
Wifi is $10 per day which is poor form considering when you stay in hotels at much more remote places in NZ (or go to cafes in town) you get complimentary wifi these days ...
I appreciate it is self contained and aimed at families and in fairness has good facilities for such a self contained stay - however just a bit less geared at a place for a couple looking for a more cosey stay.

Dear mark m,

Thank you for your review and we apologize we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us.

We will be speaking with our maintenance team in regards to the shower and heater as the dials should function to adjust heat setting and the shower should not flood into the rest of the bathroom. We are located 3km from the town centre of Wanaka. Wi-Fi charges do apply.

Thank you for your positive comments in regards to the in room facilities.

Let me again apologize for the maintenance concerns and we will be resolving these shortly.

We at Oakridge Resort wish you all the best on your onward travels.

We were comfortable, the rooms were warm and we had nice views.
But that's about it.
For such a big resort chain there was no complimentary wifi. Tea and coffee choices were very limited (no green tea or herbal, one kind of coffee, and a few black tea choices) the beds were hard and sheets rough. The electric blanket on the beds were nice though!
If we go back to Wanaka I would look into a nice B&B or cosy hotel.
Too far out of town to walk comfortably.
Pool and spas were always full of young kids and families making lots of noise

We stayed over for a few days on a skiing break.
Nice hotel but a bit outside of the action. You need a car as there is no shuttle to go out and enjoy the restaurant downtown.
We did not really try the indoor one as we always ate out including breakfasts.
You can also cook something quickly in the room which is a plus.
The hot pools are great and we ordered some nice drinks there.
It is a shame that the wifi is charged extra. Where on earth do you pay a room which is not cheap and have to pay extra for proper communication when even the ski resorts offer free wifi? I find it very frustrating.
The rooms are actually quite nice with good beds and plenty of space.
Layout is sometimes awkward with shower tap in your back and mirror off the sink.
Young staff trying hard but mostly inexperienced backpackers.

Room tip: upstairs obviously better as these are bungalow types.

Came to a conference for 5 nights and very impressed with the oak ridge - it has been well maintained and added bonus of a full kitchen and a washer dryer within the cottages. This is a huge bonus for skiing and also we managed to cook a full lunch most days. The 2 bedroom unit was very spacious. The hot pools are well serviced and located right at reception. Gas fires kept us warm throughout. The little town centre was a 30 minute walk away. We walked around the lake side almost everyday and when the weather was not so good we enjoyed the gym facilities which were equivalent to a 5 star hotel. Would definitely stay again- helpful staff as well. Only reason I I haven't rated this 5 stars would be that they don't service the apartments daily which would have been much appreciated since we cooked and had a jam packed schedule with business.
