It's conveniently located and pleasant enough basic accommodation. I stayed on the ground floor and unfortunately had noisy neighbours above and next to me for a couple of nights - I expect some level of noise but this was just a bit much through pretty thin walls.

Unsure what to expect given it is a old hotel. But definitely modernised and well appointed
Our room was wonderful with a lake view - comfortable beds - great bathroom- plenty of hot water - good sized deck to sit outside in the afternoon.
Clothes washing facilities
Handy to the shops, restaurants and the lake
Great venue to explore the region - for us on mountain bikes.
Plenty of car parking - with a voucher they provide
Definitely would stay again

Just checked into the Wanaka hotel for the weekend. Looks lovely and tidy and very close to all the shops in Wanaka. However, upon checking in the hotel the office assistant was very rude. She didn’t greet nor smile and just demanded our last name. There was no conversation with this lady. Such a great hotel it was just a-bit of a let down that we had to be greeted upon entry that way. I have been to many other hotels and I have always had friendly encounters with the hotel staff.

I stayed at Wanaka Hotel with my husband and baby and had a really lovely time. We stayed in a lake facing studio on the first floor which was pretty modern and comfortable. The staff went the extra mile to accommodate us and our baby and this was very much appreciated. The hotel doesn’t have a lift so for rooms on the first floor you can to carry your own luggage. A kitchen and laundry is available for guests. The café and restaurant on site make it great for a quick bite to eat without leaving the premises, but on a Friday/Saturday night it can get a bit loud. The hotel is in a great location to access all the town’s attractions and eateries. Won’t hesitate to stay here again.

Room tip: There are no lift, so if you have troubles with stairs, better stay at ground level

This was our only hotel of the trip & honestly we preferred the motels we stayed at. Best stuff – great location – close walking distance to the lake and lots of restaurants & shops, I-site was just down on the corner, 3 washers/4 dryers, a separate guest kitchen that was well stocked, just across the street from Erik’s Fish. They had a parking lot for guests to use. The Mexican restaurant that was in the hotel had excellent food. There was a nice garden w/ picnic tables where we ate our order from Erik's Fish.

Not so good – smallest bathroom and smallest shower yet. Shower was really tiny, almost like a camper shower. The bathroom door creaked loudly every time it was moved. The dryers left black streaks on some of our clothes and there was construction right outside our rooms that started at 6:30 am. No elevator, so had to carry heavy bags up steps.
