Great stay with great staff!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Jan 2017
Stayed here with a couple of friends for a few days over Chinese New Year and had a great time! We had one of the cabins which was perfect as we were spending more time in Wanaka town and just wanted a base. The cabins were basic but just what we needed and we were able to hire linen packs from the office. The shared facilities were clean and the kitchen had lots of cooking appliances which is always handy. You are able to hire kitchen packs if you don't have your own cooking equipment.

We didn't know much about Wanaka but the reception team seemed to be really keen to recommend us places to visit and were happy to book us anything we were interested in. We ending up getting them to book us a skydive and it was nice to have it all organised for us so we didn't have to worry about anything (apart from jumping out of the plane!) We spoke to the owners briefly and they were really nice welcoming people who seemed to really care about their guests and the business.

It's a good location, not too far out of Wanaka town and you're able to hire bikes or a taxi if you don't want to walk.

Would recommend this place, we had a really great time and there seemed to be a really good atmosphere from the staff and other guests.

I wouldn't recommend this holiday park. Stay at Wanaka Kiwi Holiday Park down the road instead. The bathroom and kitchen facilities at this Top 10 are outdated and crowded. The unpowered campervan/tent sites are not scenic, and they stack you up close to others. I did use the laundry facilities here and they worked just fine. Only a small amount of wifi was provided and it didn't reach to the tent sites. I wouldn't stay here again.

Good facilities for kids. Trampoline and pool slide were a hit.
Kitchen was poorly equipped, we had to buy plates and utensils.
Management blaming permanent borrowers is no excuse to refuse restocking. It's like a restaurant refusing to replace the cups customers break. Besides, it's not the problem of new customers and creates a bad first impression.
BBQ, bikes and hot tub all cost extra. Internet is 100meg per day with intermittent signal.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, the rate at which people would remove things from the kitchen was considerably higher than the rate at which a glass gets broken in a restaurant. To solve this issue, we do have kitchen packs available to borrow from the office against a refundable bond, as is standard practice at campsites across NZ.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels.

A good, clean, tidy campsite a convenient distance from the main action of Wanaka but without the crowds of sites in town itself - ideal for families or those wanting a quieter stay. Staff were terrific; incredibly helpful and sympathetic during our wet stay (we discovered our tent leaked from the ceiling and through the groundsheet!), thankfully a cabin became available for nights two and three at the park.

Thanks a lot for your kind feedback. We had a lot of people over the busy summer period who liked to come to our site as it was away from the crowds in the middle of the town! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels.

We stayed at this site on our way south through South Island in a Britz campervan and found it to be clean and well run. Our pitch also was close to the amenitiy block with WC , Kitchen and laundry. We even had a view of the lake.
Our our way back north we had thought to stay at Queenstown but found the town to be busy, and over commercialised, as a result we travelled on to Wanaka and had another night there. The operator was very accommodating and helpful allowing us to relocate to a different pitch as the one allocated had poor Wifi reception Our new pitch was again close to the amenity block with great views of the hills around us.

When making long term bookings Top10 Wanaka are just highly professional and highly accommodating to all of our needs. You willl be hard stretched to find more accommodating and kind hosts than Jo and Hamish - they are always most willing to go the extra mile and a bit further than that. We stayed for a long time and could never fault the professionalism and the extreme helpfulness of both. It is great to see that they are building the place up to a high standard again while having incredibly affordable accommodation. We live in Europe and will continue to recommend staying at Top10 Wanaka. We also appreciate the fact that they are open to dog owners which we found to be extremely rare in New Zealand. Keep up the good work, we will be back for sure. Simone & Michael
