This is an amazing location. Beautiful beach. Coral. Tropical fish. Was just disappointed at the quality of the rooms. Is not 5 star quality. When it rained there was water dripping from the ceiling onto my daughters bed. Rooms smelt mouldy. Towels weren’t replaced one of the days. Although kids thought it was great when one cleaner made an elephant out of the towels. Torches at the restaurant only got lit once during our 6 night visit. Felt it lacked in free entertainment and atmosphere. Had to pay to see a fire show. Missed out on weaving as it wasn’t advertised anywhere. Buffet is very overpriced!! Had to pay adult price for my two teenage daughters. When all they eat is a bowl of spaghetti bol a roll and have an ice cream. Made it very expensive for a family of 6! Italian restaurant was closed for renovations. So food choices very limited. Was expecting this resort to be amazing for the amount we paid. Was left disappointed!

    The resort is a long way off the quality of the photos shown in its promotion material. In addition, during our week's stay the main restaurant area was under construction, with rain water pouring through light fittings into the breakfast buffet area below as a result. Our room was tired with some lights not working. The main pool toilet floor was continuously flooded with a urninal blocked and it smelled like a sewer. The toilets that service the Black Marlin were also disgusting. The golf course was un-mown and nothing like the quality shown in photos. Never going back!

    Room tip: Don't do it.

    My family and I had the most amazing time retuning to Fiji for the 6th time. We loved the Shangri-La. The food was great. Activities around the pool are good. Especially the daily pool basketball ‘it’s only a game’. Beach was great. Loved the inflatable course. And my son loved Kids club. The staff were 10/10 but a special mention to Kalesi from kids club. Thanks again for making us feel so welcome. Our son adores you.
    Amani and Isaio were so much fun at the bar. There service was great and they made you feel like you were at your local but in paradise. I would recommend the Shangri-La to all families

    This is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They made a mistake and charged me the credit card bond instead of releasing it. Obviously they promised they would refund it. They have not done so. It has been a month since I left and they just ignore my emails. I would not go here as they way they deal with any complaints is just to ignore them.

    We spent a week at Shangri-La Yanuca Island as a family of four, 2 children under 10. We stayed in the Lagoon Wing in a Lagoon Deluxe Room. All four of us could fit with the couch featuring a rollaway bed.
    Our rooms were clean and well maintained. They were cleaned each day, which is a big job considering all the sand that got tracked in!
    Every single staff member we met was friendly and helpful, giving us directions if we got lost wandering around the huge grounds.
    The location of our room was fantastic for a family with small children. We spent most of our time at the lagoon pool and lagoon beach, the kids loving the inflatable water park best of all.
    Each day we had breakfast at the lagoon terrace. Lunch was usually at the lagoon kiosk. Dinner we alternated between the different restaurants. The “secret flame” show was fantastic.
    The kids spent a few hours here and there at the kids club and loved their time there. They especially loved hermit crab and frog catching.
    We sent the kids along to an evening session so we could have an adult dinner at the Golden Cowrie, which is currently operating out of the Black Marlin.
    In terms of extra activities, my husband completed a reef safari scuba course in our week there. We also spent a day on the excellent Sigatoka River Safari.
    We got the full board food and drink passage, kids eat free with paying adults. Definitely worth it for us.

    Room tip: We easily got a seat by the pool and beach each day, mainly as we were up early.

    After staying at a 'cheaper' resort prior to arriving at the Shangri-La, we had high expectations that the end of our time in Fiji was going to be great. We arrived too early, which was our mistake and had to wait for 3pm before being allowed into our room. The restaurants were happy to accommodate us and still charge the meals to our room, despite not being checked-in, which was nice. The location is great, being so close the beach all the time and lots of space for the kids to run around but unfortunately, that was the highlight. The room was extremely dated with downlights falling out of their sockets, a bar fridge that didn't work and no mini bar offerings. We were greeted with a bathroom complete with squashed bugs above the cabinetry with blood running down the wall. The air-conditioner was 'locked' and only allowed limited functionality. The staff (definitely not all of them but unfortunately majority) were nowhere near as friendly and welcoming as the previous resort. Some even decided to be overly sarcastic about the restaurant being under renovations and with much sarcasm telling us"it's never re-opening". All the food at the restaurants was very nice but again, the service was very sub-par, consistently asking for things and not receiving them without having to ask a second time.
    All in all, it was a great location but lacked the polished service and cleanliness you would expect at the rate that was bring paid.
