Fantastic Relaxing Week
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Aug 2022
Just returned from a week at Shangri La Resort booked through Luxury Escapes. We booked the Adults Only Reef Wing with full meal package which included canapes and drinks in the afternoon.

Cannot really say a bad word about our experience. Everything from our welcoming check in to our reluctant check out was tremendous. We were there purely for relaxation so didn't try any activities. We did have a couples massage at Chi Spa which included an additional 30 mins due to Reef Wing booking, so 90 mins was superb.

Our dining experience was good. We ate at adult only Golden Cowrie for breakfast and between Golden Cowrie & Takali Asian for dinner. No need for us to eat elsewhere. We did stroll around the resort and noticed that other restaurants were busy with families.

Our room had a lovely aspect and looked directly out to the lagoon and the pool. It was spacious and clean and was well serviced each day. Bottled water each day was great.

Made many friends over afternoon drinks and canapes and hope to catch up with them when we all return home.

My only criticism was the selfishness of some guests who each day reserved sun lounges with towels and books, only to not use them for several hours while they did other things like go to breakfast. Through their selfishness other guests who were there and able to use them at the time had to go without. Surely Shangri La can come up with a solution so that all guests can enjoy pool lounges while not having to go to these selfish actions.

Nevertheless our entire experience apart from that above was wonderful and I would highly recommend a visit.

We were here 13 years ago and had wonderful memories so decided to come back and spend the last 7 days of our month long holiday. Aged, untidy, food choice abysmal, staff incompetent. Plenty of other beautiful Resorts to stay in, cheaper and 5 star.
This hotel is only a 3 star.
So over priced.

This resort has it all, very family friendly but with areas for adults only as well so something for everyone. The pristine waters encourage daily swims, paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkeling. For the more adventurous there is a wide range of activities.
Lots of choices for eating and drinking and add the amazing friendliness of the Fiji people and you have a great place for a relaxing holiday. The beds are comfortable and the accommodation spacious. A great place to spend a week.

Room tip: For young families stay in the Lagoon Wing, for quieter visit stay in the Ocean Wing

38 of us stayed at the Shangri-La Fiji for my early 40th Birthday celebration. This included 14 children aged from 1 to 13. Only about a 1 hour drive from Nadi airport. We purchased an 8 night stay via luxury escapes which included full board meals. We had FJD $230 credit to spend daily on lunch/dinner between my husband and I and our 2 children ate free. Initially we were told we had $80 to spend at lunch and $150 at dinner but then we were told we could use the credit how ever we wanted. We never went over on food, only paid for drinks. Our family were spread out between the Reef wing (adults only), Ocean wing and the Yanuca Lagoon wing. We chose the Yanuca lagoon wing as I loved the look of the lagoon pool. It was also the closest to a lot of the activities. This was the perfect location for us with young children. The Ocean wing was much quieter. We had a Yanuca Lagoon Deluxe room. Our room number was 305 which was top level and it was close to breakfast and the Italian Restaurant. A nice central location to everything we needed. Buffet breakfast was great at the Lagoon Terrace. We also tried the breakfast at Takali and the adults only but the lagoon terrace was best for us with young kids. Pretty much the same but more people at the lagoon terrace. Beach Bar and Grill had great meals and also had a pool side menu you could order while sitting by the pool. Takali Asian kitchen had amazing food. Great quality when comparing to the buffet etc, as you would expect - open for lunch and dinner. I had a delicious pasta at Golden Cowrie Italian restaurant (please be aware that it's aged 9 and up for the Italian restaurant) - open for dinner only and this is where the adults only breakfast is. Overall I was quite happy with the food. You always eat too much when it is included. The ocean water in the lagoon was warmer than the pool. The pool was still a good temperature, it was just a tad cool on the overcast days. The inflatable water park was a hit with the kids. Everyone is required to wear life jackets when out there so it's safe. Overall we were very happy with our stay. We only left the resort once for a sailing trip. 8 nights was perfect and my boys cannot wait to go back. They are still telling me they miss Fiji. I felt the need to write a post as I noticed some negative reviews when I looked. Our room was clean and it was all we needed. If you have more than 2 children I'd advise going for one of the suites. They were quite a lot bigger. Also my parents beach wing room was bigger. We were hardly in our room so the size wasn't really an issue. I'm not sure what else I can add. Enjoy if you choose to stay at this beautiful resort :)

Room tip: Lagoon wing if gravelling with young children.

What a great place for a very relaxing holiday, this place has it all.

This is a superb Resort that has two accommodation sections one for Adults and a section for families with children. There is a variety of dining options and again some only for guests over the age of 16. There is an Italian restaurant, Asian restaurant, Beach Bar & Grill restaurant, Lagoon Terrace restaurant and other eateries that are open during the day around the pool. The family pool and beach area have life guards during the day. The beach area has Thatched roof shade huts that have a buzzer for food and drink service, so you don't have to move from your relaxing beach time.

The resort has a 9 hole golf course, as well as a mini golf course called Na Koro Putt Putt for the kids, and a kids play area .

There is a Gym and a Spa for very relaxing massages.

There is even a Chapel if during your stay you decide to tie the knot with your love one.

Nearly everything is charged to your room, so you might want to keep track of your spending or you might be in for a shock when you check out.
The rooms are very clean with a very comfortable bed. If you can, I suggest you try and book a ground floor room as you then have access from either the room door or the veranda.

The Shangri La was amazing! We booked our holiday through My Fiji. We arrived at about 7am in the morning. Myself, husband, 4 kids and my mum and dad. Thankfully one room was ready for us. We had the full board package. All meals included. I would def do this as it’s expensive. The food at Takali was exceptional! So yummy. The buffet dinner at the terrace was great too, a little bit of everything. The curries were my favourite. The Buffett breaky was ok, I stuck with my normal toast and fruit. The beach bar and grill was great too. All in all the food was amazing. The kids had a lot of options too across the 3 restaurants. The cocktails were average. I had one good one at Takali. I’m glad I took a few bottles of my own wine to enjoy. We stayed in the ocean terrace ground floor room. Could not fault it. It was on the quieter side of the resort, the kids played on the grass and beach in front of our room every afternoon while we relaxed with some drinks. It was further away from the main pool meaning a lot of walking but that was ok with all the food we ate, I’m glad we had our 2 year old stroller. Kids loved kids club and movie nights on the beach. My only gripe with this holiday was trying to get a pool lounge. It was ridiculous. 9am every seat was taken with a towel but no one there. Then people leave there stuff and go for lunch then come back. It’s really selfish and common decency not to do that. We managed to get down to the pool/beach really early on our second last morning and get 3 chairs between 8 of us. Apparently it’s a common issue in Fiji. Iv never really experienced it here in Oz or Bali. Then again I have never stayed in a family resort before. Other then that our holiday was fantastic. We will def be back. I must also add the staff were all so friendly and so helpful.
