Quite expensive for what you get

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Mar 2024
Only stayed for two nights after returning from outlying islands.
The room was quite nice with a separate bedroom for our two sons to share.
Each bedroom had an ensuite toilet and shower. Washing machine, dryer also in the master ensuite.
Quite spacious with full kitchenette.
The price per night off-season was still $1175 NZD but this did include breakfast. I wouldn't say it was OTT expensive, but just thought for what it was perhaps $850 - 900 more reasonable.
Staff were extremely helpful in organising taxis for us etc.
We did not eat dinner or lunch at any of the restaurants, we find resort dining is way overpriced.
If you want fresh lobster it is half price at the local restaurants 500m away, than it is at the Hilton.
Would be a great place if there was a large group of people meeting for a few days for an event.
Great pool and bar area, but unfortunately we had 48 hours of rain and strong winds.
Date of stay: March 2024
Room Tip: Don't book off-season. The weather is atrocious.

I booked for three people they gave me a room with king size bed cannot sleep three I went back to the reception. Explain the problem they tell me we will separate the bed but by doing that will have to single bed. It doesn’t sleep three OK OK she said we will change the room just go stay in this room for a while we will call you, two hours later nobody call me back to receptionist I ask what happened they tell me what’s the problem I have to tell them my story again I called the manager and give me another girl to serve. Finally, she said I will give you upgrade home suite but you have to pay 500 more I said that’s not what I booked then she told me OK will give you another room after we got the key we went to check the room and guess what one room was one king bed again it is very hot very muggy We are sweating like a pig frustrated finally I suggested to put another single bed in the original room. A lot of discussion she agreed, but after I had it.
And she was very rude and tell me you’re supposed to check at 3 o’clock and we need to check in early just like she knew me a favor and she tell me shut the hell up not nice at all all of them very slow. It takes us about 45 minutes to check in, so was everybody very slow
Look at the picture of the reception they made of painted plywood very sleazy

The entire staff was incredible at this resort. which made up for any unforeseen events from the heavy rains. Orisis at the Front Desk was extremely Proffessional who made a bad situation with our room to a positive experience. We absolutely enjoyed our stay .

Room tip: Avoid rainy season .

We lucked out with weather!! Staff is what makes this resort shine. Our housekeepers were the best of the best!
Power and water went out during our stay. The resort apologized via a resort credit. It was a nice gesture, but should’ve been more generous in my opinion.
Just a heads up; there are no areas with air con outside of hotel rooms. I would give a 5 star bc the location and shells on the beach. We ate at the Thai restaurant one evening and it was delicious. The open air location on the beach was very hot around 84F.
But the lack of communication with power and no communal aircon in dropping to 4.

We stayed at the Hilton as 2 adults and a toddler in the garden view room in February 2024. Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately with a Bula, shell Leo, smiles, cold mini towels for our faces/hands and also a nice cold drink. We arrived earlier than the check in time however our room was ready and we were allowed to go in right away which was a nice surprise. This worked out perfectly for us as we had just travelled from an island to the Hilton and our toddler was due for her nap.

Our luggage and belongings were loaded onto the buggy right away. The driver drove us around the Hilton and explained where the swimming pool was and the various dining options. This was helpful as it allowed us to get a mental map of the resort and where everything was.

The room was small and compact for our short stay however had everything we needed. The room itself was clean and the air conditioner was a lifesaver given we came in early February when it was hot and humid. The WiFi worked great in our room and there was free to air TV including children’s channels for our toddler. The bathroom itself was very large and spacious. The bathroom had a shower and also a bathtub which was great for our toddler who hates showers. The black out blinds were not the best in our room as the light from the early morning made its way in and my toddler had woken up as a result whereas usually she will sleep in till 7am/8am.

Our room was right at the end of the resort which wasn’t too bad as it gave us a small walk to the swimming pools and also when dining at Nuku. However the green buggy comes every so often to the end which is great as you can hop on and get to the swimming pool and dining options quickly. It’s great especially when it starts to pour down rain and saves ourselves from getting wet.

The Hilton has great swimming pool options for all whether you are a solo traveler, traveling as a couple or even as a family. There is a kids swimming pool option for our toddler with slides which was great. There is an adults only pool on the other end of the resort which we didn’t see or use given we were with our toddler but is a great option for couples traveling without children.

There are great dining options here and you can tell the quality of the food here is different to those of other places that we have dined at. We primarily dined at Nuku for breakfast and dinner. The food at Nuku is amazing and delicious. I literally tried a little bit of everything for breakfast each morning. The staff at Nuku provided fabulous service and were so attentive as we dined. There is Maravi which primarily specializes in Asian dishes which we didn’t get a chance to go too during our stay. KORO is an adults only dining option which again we didn’t get to eat at however is great for a nice kid free option. There is a snack bar where you can buy some smaller food options such as snacks, pizza, pastries, ice cream. We would come to the deli for lunch as we were too full from eating a big breakfast. There is a New Zealand ice cream store which is located across from Nuku and was perfect to have on a hot day.

There is a medical centre for all of your medical needs where you can also purchase medicines if you need any. There is a kids club which looks pretty cool. We didn’t take our toddler into the kids club but looking from the outside, it looks like so much fun. It also looks pretty brand new and modern. There are some shopping store options which allowed us to buy some souvenirs and gifts to take back home. It wasn’t overly expensive as some other resorts which was good and I was able to buy my toddler some cute floral dresses for a reasonable price.

Don’t forget there is the Bula Bus which is a great option for getting around Denaru and would highly recommend.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would come back here when we return to Fiji. Highly recommend the Hilton to people traveling with families.

It's not perfect, but it's a wonderful resort and we would definitely stay again. The gardens and grounds are immaculate, and the staff seem genuinely friendly and willing to help (special shoutouts to Waqa and his enthusiastic Bula greetings, Salome on the front desk who was just lovely, Saisai who helped us to our room, and to everyone who took the time to stop and chat with our 19 month old daughter - she loved it, and had a smile on her face for most of the stay.

One of the best airconditioners I've ever had, the room cooled quickly which was a God-send on the hot and humid days.

There are plenty of activities and surprises too: we loved the pool aerobics, the pools in general, the torch lighting and the fire show on 7 March at Nuku.

Out of all the resorts on Denerau, this would have to be the best location, just a short walk to the marina (or $8 taxi, or 1 stop on the Bula Bus).

We loved the breakfast at Nuku each morning and enjoyed a lovely dinner at Maravu to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday.

It's a beautiful spot but it is massive, so make sure you leave enough time to jump on the 'Bula Express'.

Would definitely come again!
