Another great holiday at the Sheraton!!
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2022via mobile
This is the second time this year we have stayed at the Sheraton Denarau. We had such an amazing time in August we came back in October.
In August we had an oceanfront room which was extremely roomy and had a great view.
On our return we had an oceanview room which was absolutely fine but I have to say we enjoyed the oceanfront better!!
The Fijian people are amazing and the staff always friendly and accommodating.
We love the Sheraton, the layout is very well thought out allowing most rooms to have some sort of glimpse of the sea. The pools and gardens are excellent.
If I was to suggest anything it would be to have a better adults only area which other resorts on Denarau have done very well.
Thanks to “Nemo” at the wet edge for making the best Pina Colada’s in the resort.
All in all another amazing holiday at the Sheraton.
We have stayed here many times and the experience is always positive. A very hard place to leave!!
PS ( to those who think it’s o.k to reserve pool loungers by placing towels on them thus preventing people who are actually at the pool from using them!!….Shame on you! Selfish, Selfish behaviour)

Consider if this property and some others in the Denarau area are for you.
We have been coming to Fiji for many years for the rest, tranquility, and relaxation that has been rarely available at most Australian resorts. After an absence of almost 5 years due to circumstances and COVID, we decided to come again for relaxation and tranquility.
Well, what a mistake we made. The only thing consistent was the convivial, happy, and generous nature of the Fijian people themselves who work at the property.
It seems that the Marriott Group has taken over the management of the resort and turned it into a Marriott Bonvoy Club resort for families with small children and folks needing budget meals and constant entertainment.
Tranquility has gone out the window. It is now loud, boisterous, and completely lacking in anything resembling a relaxing atmosphere.
The food in every venue has descended to the usual offerings of a reasonable Australia RSL or Leagues Club with the emphasis on quantity, over quality, and principally served in Buffets.
If you are seeking quiet relaxation, with restaurants serving something resembling a 4 - 5 star restaurant for a lovely dinner, this is no longer the property for you.
For anyone who on previous visits, enjoyed the flexibility of being able to eat at any of the major properties along the Denarau strip and send the bill seamlessly back to whichever hotel you were staying at, sadly that facility is also no longer available.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel venue, with average food, no beach, but only pools which are always crowded, with families with small children, and the only peaceful place being your hotel room, then this property is for you.
What sort of resort puts a 60" TV in the centre of the view you have paid for of the sea and beach? Da!

Room tip: Be sure you want to spend your holiday in a venue that resembles a children's Playschool.

Beautiful property with many amenities. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, even allowed us to check in early which was very much appreciated as we had just arrived from a very long flight, and they upgraded us to a wonderful oceanfront room.
The adults only pool was nice though there were some inconsiderate guests who did not adhere to the "quiet zone" policy.
There was a good spread of food at the breakfast buffet 59FJD pp but I found only a handful of items tasty.
We had dinner at Tatavu Grill which was excellent, and lunch the following day which we ordered poolside, which was also excellent.
I ordered room service breakfast on the last day I was there. All I wanted was toast and banana which didn't seem all that complicated. I think the staff misheard because they called several times saying they had no Nutella. I said I didn't ask for Nutella. Just banana. Instead of plain toast, I got French toast. Not the end of the world and quite hilarious.
The staff was very nice. I would stay there again.

Considering there are over 400 rooms in this resort, and it was fully booked when we were there, you didn't seem to be bumping into people all the time, unless you were in one of the restaurants, or in the pool, and even then, there was lots of room for everyone. The resort is in magnificent condition. Our room had a lovely ocean view and was very comfortable. The resort staff are friendly and efficient. I'm fairly good at finding faults with resorts. The Sheraton Fiji had me stumped. Couldn't find any.

Although there were a lot of kids this was a truly incredible trip that was very relaxing. I would recommend asking for the ocean front room close to the chapel as it is a little quieter down there and you have the beach available from you doorstep. The staff couldn’t have been any more helpful, friendly and happy. They would all greet you with Bula every time you walked past a staff member making you feel right at home. The pools could have been bigger and deeper. The hotel had been newly renovated which was amazing. The rooms were great and air con was a welcome relax as it was very hot. Highly recommend staying here. Good value for money

Room tip: Breakfast- avoid 8-9am Ask for ocean front near the chapel Lots of kids

We stayed for 5 nights on a Luxury Escapes all inclusive package. This was a great place for families as there was children everywhere and we spoke to people who raved about the day care. Wouldn't recommend if you want a quiet trip as it was hard to escape all the children!
To start we had to check in twice because the first staff member didn't notice we had a package. We returned to reception and the next staff member provided us with wrist bands and told us along with the wrist bands we had to carry around a piece of paper with our package details to show staff (Fortunately staff didn't need it and we took a photo of it just in case). We were told that the drinks package was for all restaurants until 9pm including the Heineken club across the road. We spent the day enjoying the different bars although staff always had to go hunting when we would ask for a drinks menu.
We enquired at reception the next day to make sure things were going smoothly and they stated we already had $84 in drinks attached to our bill. It turned out to be sparkling water and some wine at dinner. We repeated that we were on the drinks package and they advised that we should have been asking for special menus for what drinks were included on our specific package. This wasn't specified by the staff or the paperwork we were given. They further stated each bar would have different included drinks so we have to check each bar.
We also attempted to get a drink at the Heineken club who advised that their facility was not included in our package.
We then went around to all the bars asking for the special menu. The only place that could find the special menu was at "Island 619". Most staff told us all drinks were included on the package at each bar with the occasional staff member saying it was base spirits and all cocktails.
We didn't have any further issues with additional charges throughout our stay.
The pools were lovely. The main pool had a few little built in table and chairs near the bar which were great but the set up of the bar deterred people from being able to order. There was clearly steps up to the bar but they had piled up glasses where you should be able to order from. Staff still happily took our orders from there but could be set up so much better. There was actually people in the pool asking around trying to work out how to order.
The "adults only pool" was small and next to the main area. It was quiet there but there was no where really to order drinks and not quite the best set up.
The "Wet Edge" pool however had a swim up bar, with the BEST staff - (Special mentions to Opi and Nimi). They were always cheerful, Nimi was generally singing and served great cocktails. The biggest downside of this pool was the children. Parents were allowing them to jump off the bench behind the bar into the pool splashing people with drinks (Parents fault not the hotels) but if this was the adults only pool it would be AMAZING. It's well away from everything else, swim up bar, infinity view of the ocean and plenty of lounge chairs around it.
There's another really long pool which is a great design not far from the Wet Edge. It weaves around so you can still have your own little area.
The rooms were clean and spacious with great shower heads. If you get Ocean Front might be worth requesting ground floor. We had an upstairs ocean front with a small balcony and table and chairs. The downstairs ones had nice big day beds to lay on with the ocean view which would have been amazing.
There was live music each night with some amazing singers and a very relaxed feel.
The food at the buffet was good. Different themes each night and a great variety of options. Special thanks to Amelia at breakfast who always greeted us and was always lovely.
Lovely place to stay and great atmosphere. Way too many kids for us.

Room tip: With ocean front request ground floor as you get the day bed outside the room.
