Amazing ❤️

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Apr 2024
Although we had a couple of minor issues (being the phone didn’t work and we had a leak in the lounge when the rain was torrential), the Villas were delightful. So spacious and comfortable. The beds were super comfy and the villa was well appointed. Staff were accomodating and so lovely. Would go back again and again. Perfect for the family ❤️

We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the villas. Not only were they spacious but they were clean, well presented and well equipped with multiple tv’s, dining area, lounges and kitchen amenities. The staff were all welcoming and friendly.

Our location to the lagoon and infinity pool was second to none ! It’s only a short walk from the villas to the Heineken club house across the road or Sheraton Lobby. The Bulla Bus gave fast access to Port Denarau.

The beds were next level too soft- I would sink into them like a cloud which was no good for my back - after 1 night of almost zero sleep and a sore back I folded the couch/ futon out and slept there. I was sad not to be able to sleep next to my husband but my body requires a soft, semi firm or firm mattress not a marshmallow that consumes my body and offers zero support.

Improvements could be: fix some of the guttering (leaking pipes onto our patio), mattress upgrades, more yoga and other activities early in the mornings (Island life is definitely slow to get started). Ps 7am is not early enough as if a yoga sessions are from 7-8am and your tour pick up is 8:30am there is no time to shower and change etc.

The villas are great, but I would book a pool front one if I came again especially with kids.

The staff could not be more friendly and helpful, and there are a number of great convenience stores nearby selling everything you might need.

It's easy to get to the other hotels and to the marina, taxis are cheap or catch the Bula bus.

The breakfast buffet is good but very very hot in the restaurant. If I came again I would just get breakfast at 28g which has great coffee and pastries, as we are not big breakfast eaters.

We were in a garden room so it felt like quite a walk to the pool as it was usually raining (we were in March). Those with the pool front rooms could just zoom out!

Room tip: Get a poolside room if you can, and if you want to do breakfast buffet get up early and be prepared to eat in the heat

- fantastic accommodation, great layout
- entry is through a front foyer. One side is the main bedroom and a bathroom, the other side is a kitchen, lounge and dining which has doors that lead to another large room with 2 double beds and a bathroom that also has a washing machine and dryer
- double beds were comfortable. King bed was not - too hard.
- housekeeping was hit and miss. No washing powder left for 3 days, face cloths often not replaced, no bath mat etc. Not a major but inconvenient and not what you’d expect from a 5 star resort
- I also do don’t like some house keeping practices. Some cleaners would leave the main door ajar whilst they were cleaning the villa. Given they branch off to two different sides there was definitely potential for someone to slip into the rooms.
- We lock everything even suitcases and put everything in the safe especially any jewellery. The night we checked in a guest was reporting a theft that had occurred in the villas. I’m sure this isn’t isolated to the Villas so don’t let it put you off, it’s more about being careful.
- Fijian people are so friendly however this visit to the Sheraton, the staff were disappointing. They don’t seem happy, most appear to be just going through the motions and some aren’t even doing that.
- the villa pools are great - there is an infinity pool with bar - also great for children as it is a walk in pool so very shallow initially
- the lagoon pool is huge and so even with a lot of people doesn’t feel crowded. The loungers do need to be replaced - other resorts have better loungers.
- the service at the villa pools is pathetic (we also stayed at Malolo Island and the Hilton Denarau and visited the Sofitel x 2 for dinner - all these resorts had a far superior service and happier staff)
- the buffet breakfast at the Sheraton was okay - nothing to rave about but I appreciate it is the low season however there were lots of people around. I was put off by the bird droppings all over the light shades and the birds frequently all over tables and picking at the buffet food. Sheraton Villas I think you could do something about that.
- my daughter sustained an injury at the buffet restaurant from a broken chair. The restaurant receptionist we reported it to was absolutely useless but once the restaurant manager was made aware the Sheraton were fabulous. The manager went above and beyond.
- there is a small supermarket/store in front of the Sheraton Villas - this was great for grabbing snacks for afternoon drinks.
- dined at The Edge Water - it was okay. You can get better food at the Port. The large chicken pizza at Cardos is huge and really tasty for $45 FJ.
- our best meals were both at the Sofitel - Madam So (a new Vietnamese restaurant) and Waitui Bar & Grill. Waitui was relatively pricey - $500 FJ for 3 (that included a couple of drinks each but no dessert) Madam So was amazing - food was delicious and is reasonable if you share plates as intended and as we did - $213 FJ for 3 again a couple of drinks and no dessert. TO NOTE: both have a $150 FJ cancellation or no show fee. We would return to both.
- the bonus with Denarau is you can go to and from all the resorts to eat or browse (the towels at the resorts are all different to deter people using all the pools) either walking, via taxi or the Bula Bus. Be mindful that a taxi to and from a resort will cost $6 FJ if going to a dinner reservation at another resort as a one off but a one day Bula pass ticket is $11 FJ pp. The bus is a lot of fun and fine if you have a concession ticket ($35 FJ pp for a 5 day pass) or you are going to get off and on the Bula bus all day which you can do.
- OVERALL I’d return to the Sheraton Villas due to the accommodation & pools. I’m not sure I’d include breakfast as there are plenty of eating places (there are good cafes at most resorts) and others down at the Port.

This was our 1st trip to Fiji. I have never seen this friendlier staff in any of the hotels before. They made us feel like we were their regular customers and they had known us for years. We have so many great memories from our trip to their hotel due to their staff.

Pros:
1. One of the best breakfasts we experienced in any resort around the world
2. Great room
3. Resort is fantastic
4. Location is fantastic and convenient to good restaurants nearby
5. Good restaurant in the resort
6. Great kids' club
7. Fantastic complementary activities every day for the customers

Cons:
1. A lot of pools but not even one which is decent enough or where kids can have any activities like slide or anything like that
2. Beach is not that great
3. For Titanium and platinum customers, GM and asst GM had a get-together. We went and felt ignored by the asst GM. He talked and thanked literally ALL the white customers but totally ignored us, the only brown people in the area.

Despite the cons including racism by the asst GM, I would still recommend this hotel!

Bula Vinaka Mr_AK_82,

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Denarau Villas, and we are pleased to hear of your wonderful holiday experience and your kind commends towards our wonderful associates. I will ensure to share your message with our team.

Our kids swimming pool did not have water slides which is your top preferred facility during your travels, however a water park is nearby our resort which we highly recommend as additional activities to do.

I am sorry to hear that you felt ignored at the Elite Cocktail for our Marriott Bonvoy members. We appreciate and value all our guests as our resort is inclusive and approaches our guests the same.

Please let us know whenever your travels will bring you back to Fiji, we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
