I'll preface this review by saying that my wife and I travel frequently and when we do we typically stay in vacation rentals we find on Trip Advisor. In terms of this particular vacation rental we may have just been victims of circumstance but nonetheless I feel that the issues we faced should be documented so as to prevent future tenants from experiencing similar issues.
It all began when we first arrived in San Juan and we called Tony (property owner/manager) to inform him that we had arrived and it was decided that we would meet his housekeeper at the property at a designated time for her to let us in. By the time we arrived at the condo however we discovered that we were ultimately locked out of the building/rental with no sign of the housekeeper. We then started to get nervous when several attempts at getting ahold of Tony via telephone were unsuccessful and began to wonder if we had been scammed or at least if we needed to find somewhere else to stay for the night because the sun was quickly setting and we had just experienced a long day of traveling. To our relief however Maria the housekeeper finally arrived approximately 1.5 hours later than the time we had originally agreed on and she graciously let us in and gave us a tour of the condo that we were pleased to find was very clean and orderly upon our arrival.
From there we were generally happy with our accommodations as we had everything we needed for a fun vacation however we did experience trouble with the main AC in the living room (remote didn't work) and the WIFI (password was nowhere to be found), and we tolerated the plastic-covered overly firm mattress in the master bedroom.
It is entirely possible that we are being too picky however we have never had any issues previously in the other vacation rentals we have stayed in as everyone has always been very professional and organized however we just feel that these little details make the difference between an excellent place to stay and an average one regardless of the beautiful view and/or location which this spot has both.

This was our 1st trip to PR; my husband and I had a glorious 9 days. The apt. (1604 tennis cluster) was 1st rate, near sights, the ferry, and everything we needed. It is in the only building in the Penamar complex with a direct view of the ocean. The stunning view from the balcony, accurately represented in the photos, looks straight out to Culebra in the distance and there was usually a cool breeze from the trade winds. We really enjoyed sleeping with the windows open and, although there is no beach in the immediate vicinity, we could sometimes hear the surf from the apartment in the quiet of the night. The apt. is on the 2d floor and very accessible to the assigned parking spaces, which are two tandem spaces, so it is easy to get to the apartment and we had little need to use the elevator.
Luis "Tony" was very responsive and easy to deal with. There was a little confusion on our arrival because we arrived late at night and only had Tony's daytime contact information. The security person contacted the owner when we arrived and he sent someone right over to let us in, give us keys and offer some pointers about the apartment. For later arrivals, we would recommend making sure to have all phone numbers and emails and a plan for how to get keys. A few notes if you are renting a car: for GPS, try street address of 800 Carretera Cabezas de San Juan, but note that highway directions mostly use the Rte number instead, which is 987; for night time arrivals, if your rental company is not located at the airport, there can be a long wait for the shuttle to your car rental location. We waited 45 min to an hour for the shuttle to Thrifty. There was no problem on our departure, which was during the day, when Thrifty had four shuttles operating. My guess is rental companies located at the airport (Avis, Hertz, Budget, National to same a few) would be a better bet for nighttime arrivals.
The apt was clean and well stocked with folding chairs, beach chairs, coolers, towels, tennis rackets and balls, and kids' toys. The owner told us there were only a few starter supplies, but the apt. actually had many condiments, including olive oil & balsamic vinegar, paper goods such as napkins, paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, and laundry detergent, and toiletries such as suntan lotion and moisturizers. Some of these items appear to have been left by prior guests so what is there might be different over time. We recommend checking the supplies before grocery shopping; there is a Walmart in Fajardo, which is open 24/7, so it is very easy to pick up what you need regardless of when you arrive.
The king bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable; didn't use the other 2 bedrooms. The apt is nicely furnished, with a gorgeous comfortable sectional couch. The table in the eating area is bar height. We would have preferred a lower table, but we got used to it by the end of our stay. Favorite beach-Seven Seas-5 minutes away. Favorite restaurant-Ole Lelolai up the street. Favorite tour - Biobay luminescent tour by boat operated by Bio Island.
We always felt safe and very comfortable. All of the amenities at the complex were clean, in excellent condition and uncrowded. We can't wait to return. Thanks, Tony!!!
