“Space and tranquility”

I won't repeat the many positive comments on other reviews as they already give a clear perspective of this stunning accommodation. If you want plenty of space in which to relax with accompanying sounds of humming birds, woodpeckers and many other birds ...this should be top of your list. Breakfast on the large patio area with the buzz of the humming birds' wings at the feeder, is a great start to the day.

The accommodation is very well equipped and the owners have even thought to provide items such as food wrappings etc. that you never think to bring. The cottage has excellent laundry facilities. There are also air conditioning units in the lounge and bedroom. However, both rooms also have ceiling fans and, as the windows all have screens, we found it very pleasant to be able to open the windows and just use the fans. Wifi is also included and is very good.

The owners, Steve and Gayle, are great and available without being intrusive. Steve is around the ranch early mornings and evenings to feed the horses and it is well worth catching him for advice on the area. We've had an excellent week here and feel thoroughly relaxed!

“You have to stay here!”

My wife and I stayed here for two nights whilst travelling California, between San Francisco and Monterey.

On arrival we were amazed at the shear size / quality of the rental. Absolutely everything is well thought out and it is beautifully decorated. We loved relaxing around the ranch, saying hello to the horses and donkies, watching the sunset and enjoying the tranquillity.

The hosts Stephen and Gayle were wonderful, they explained everything to us and gave us helpful advice as to the surrounding areas. We were lucky enough to visit when one of the horses gave birth and so Steven and Gayle allowed us to be part of that :-)

We travelled to Yosemite National Park within an hour and it was well worth it.... we were however glad to be back on the ranch in the evening to relax, cook our own tea and watch the sunset with a beer.

We could not fault or complain about one thing in this rental as it was absolutely amazing. Having stayed in some beautiful hotels around the World, nothing beats this rental so just book it!!! We were gutted when we had to leave and so will hopefully be back one day.

Thank you Stephen and Gayle.

Rob and Rach.

“A little bit of Heaven”

My husband and I were on a trip to California to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. After spending five days in San Francisco we wanted to visit Yosemite and decided to stay at Round Hat Horse Ranch. It was such a change from the city and my first thoughts were "I wish I could spend more time here". We had only booked three nights.

Steve met us on arrival and showed us around and gave us helpful advice on visiting Yosemite. The cottage is in the most beautiful setting surrounded by trees and paddocks. It has a rustic feel, it is spotlessly clean and has all mod-cons. It has a beautiful patio area where you can sit and watch the horses, donkeys and rabbits and where the silence is only broken by the sound of the hummingbirds or the water fountain.

It is a good 45 minute scenic drive to Yosemite. Yosemite is vast and beautiful but on our second day we decided to spend it on the ranch as we loved the peace and quiet and restful feel of the place.

Steve and Gayle are the most gracious hosts. We enjoyed their hospitality and I loved our chats. Some day we hope we can welcome you to the Emerald Isle.

“Remote and charming”

This charming little home away from home is the place to be if you love the ranch sort of life. Secluded in the gentle rolling hills, the cottage was as comfortable as can be. You see wildlife and the owners beautiful horses and donkeys. The owner was very kind when he came down to greet me. You get a great feeling of privacy and that the place is your own. Completely peaceful and serene. I could have stayed much longer just to hang out for a couple days. But my goal was to see Yosemite. So my enjoyment of was short. Be prepared for the travel to Yosemite as it takes well over an hour to get to the Valley floor. It is a gorgeous ride though through the mountains. Leave enough time to stop in the quaint little town of Mariposa on your way to and from the Cottage. I will love to stay here again if I plan on being in the area.

“Best Getaway. Ever.”
Reviewed 18 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

One of the most memorable experiences I have had traveling to date!

There is too much to say about this lovely property. The key selling point being that you are away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. So, even when you're away from the beauty of Yosemite, you're in the beauty of this lovely cottage. The cottage itself has tasteful decor, and a relaxing patio w/ a fountain and outdoor shower. The property itself is full of varied, HEALTHY animals (they looked well-fed and had shining coats/skin!). There's even a rafter of wild turkeys that roam the property!

Highly recommended. We already want to make a trip back just to see the newborn colts/ foals (there were two pregnant donkeys during our trip).
