Perfect location, room had everything we needed, staff were friendly, Dukes was a favourite for us, kids loved the pool and beach especially Ray but the best part was Heather from the concierge desk! She really knows her stuff and is such a beautiful person. We will be back for sure.

I accompanied my good friend to this location when she won the prize on Wheel of Fortune. While she was lucky to have bagged a trip of a lifetime, I was also fortunate enough to experience it with her. Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is a prime spot located in the heart of everything, and I would like to break down why you should choose it.

1. All rooms have balconies

I'm originally from Chicago, so getting a balcony is always a hassle downtown. But in Hawaii, many hotels seem to offer them. However, not as nice as Outrigger- where you are literally right on the beach. We were on the 10th floor, and not only can you see the waves- you can HEAR them too.

2. The Staff is very friendly

Efficient, outgoing and very professional. We were greeted by the general manager the day of check in, and they sent a gift basket.

3. Excursion Desk Agents Saved us $$$

If you go to the lower lobby you will find the excursion desk. In less then twenty minutes, we were able to have our entire week planned and saved a bundle. If you're new to Hawaii, definitely sign up for the Pearl Harbor experience- it is amazing. We also did Shark Cage Diving, Dinner Cruise and Mountain Waterfall hiking. We opted to rent a car on our last day. The total ended up being about $400- but the nice people took off nearly half the amount, as long as we attended a small time share presentation (which includes free breakfast and no option to buy anything). If you have good will power to say NO to timeshares, you should get the excursion package.

4. Location is Prime

Outrigger is literally in the center of Waikiki so it's like being downtown anywhere else. Duke's restaurant is in the resort (excellent chicken wings), and you have an ABC store right across the street for knickknacks and suntan lotion. If you want to save money on food, there's an authentic Japanese restaurant two blocks away that has the best noodles ever. KFC and Burger King are also right in the vicinity.

Over all a nice hotel. Beds are comfortable, housekeeping is quick to clean, and the space in a typical room is above standard. Worth looking into for your Hawaii experience.

Aloha JasonMovieGuy. Thank you very much for staying at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and for describing the many positives of your experience here. All of our rooms have balconies with tables and chairs so guests can enjoy their morning coffee or evening cocktail while listening to the sound of crashing waves down below. Our team of dedicated island hosts, including the resort General Manager, enjoys interacting with guests and ensuring they have a delightful time on vacation. We are glad you allowed our concierge to plan your excursions around the island and we appreciate your advice about the Wyndham timeshare presentations. Mahalo Nui Loa. We hope to welcome you back again.

You can't beat the location of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, it is literally on Waikiki Beach and on the main street so all your shopping needs are catered for. However, if you are after a 'hotel' experience, this is not the hotel for you. The outrigger is more like a multi storey sleeping facility on top of a thoroughfare. Although the rooms were large and comfortable, the bathroom could not stand two people and the door would not open if the bath mat was on the floor. There is literally just enough room to turn in a circle in the bathroom. The main entrance is off the street where you go up a small escalator to the lobby, this is a relatively quiet area with multiple check in desks, however as far as the hotel goes- that's it. You are provided with a gym and laundry but as Dukes restaurant is on the beach side of the hotel the lobby (s) are pretty much a thoroughfare for every Tom, Dick and Harry. The elevator system is horrible. I can understand for security reasons you have to swipe your room key to gain access to the lift, however there were times I stood waiting for 20 minutes for a lift and there were three lifts in operation!

We chose this hotel because it had a pool, but we didn't use it once. The pool is small and day beds are squished in like sardines. Although we don't have children I didn't think it was an environment for children, there were too many loud obnoxious people drinking and making a fuss to enjoy the atmosphere. If your intention is to swim then use the beach an rent a day bed or umbrella. I know it costs more but you will have a better time, more space and can even buy cheap lilo's to float in the water. Plus the beach is beautiful and the water is warm!

Be aware that if you book any activities or sight seeing tours through the hotel and concierge you will be given the drill about participating in a 90 minute lunch or tour of the report. This is to inform you about purchasing a time share apartment or something similar.

The staff we did encounter were very helpful and courteous. We shopped in Waikiki and found the outlets a great way to get some deals and also did a tour on The Surf Bus to the North Shore which was awesome! We're not really tour people but this tour gives you a choice of activities and drops you off for a couple hours so you explore, picks you up and then drops you off again to do some more activities in a different location.

Stayed at the Outrigger for two nights but wished it was more. Service excellent, staff very helpful and the on site restaurants served excellent Hawaiian food. Set right on the beach and in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the Waikiki area of Honolulu this is an excellent choice of hotel.

Stayed here with my family recently and was very happy with everything. All the staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean and spacious. The location is the best part though. Right on the beach and close to the shops and restaurants in central waikiki. Highly recommended!
