This was our third or fourth stay at the Francis Malbone House and the experience just gets better and better. We stay in either Room 2 or 3 which are quite spacious with gas fireplaces, more than adequate shower and bath and wonderful windows. The breakfast is delicious with a buffet and hot entree choice which changes daily. Afternoon tea and snacks are a real treat and can be enjoyed in the beautiful garden The front desk and other staff are extremely friendly and helpful and welcome return guests with open arms. We can't wait for our next visit..

Room Tip: Front rooms are large with town views. Back rooms have garden views

Dear James,

We love that you enjoy staying with us at the Malbone House. The best compliment we can receive is when a guest chooses to return often! Room two and three are great rooms and we are glad you find them spacious and just right for your needs. The original house has a charm to it and it is certainly noticeable in those particular rooms.
Thank you for sharing your review on trip advisor. The staff is thrilled with your kind words. We look forward trip number five.

Warm Regards,
The Malbone Team

We enjoyed another great stay of 4 nights at the Francis Malbone House Inn. As always, the Inn is impeccable and the staff makes ever effort to make your stay most pleasurable. Enjoyed the special breakfasts and afternoon tea. The courtyard with its plantings and fountain makes a special place to relax.

Dear Cem,

Glad to hear that tea time was your wife's favorite. It is such a challenge to work here during tea time on a daily basisi! The food doesn't only look good, but tastes delicious, too!
Thank you for the trip advisor review and for your continued patronage. We look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,
The Malbone Team

The location was perfect, near restaurants and shopping. The Malbone house had so much character and great history behind it. The staff were amazing and friendly. It was a very personal stay. Much better than staying in a hotel. The owner came over to us and told us about the history of the house.

Dear Taryn,

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The Malbone House and liked all the personal touches. Thank you for noticing and for sharing with others on trip advisor. The history of the house is quite interesting and guests usually are intrigued. The original house was built in 1760, imagine if the walls could talk?!
We are glad the location worked well for you. Downtown Newport is a lot of fun especially in the height of summer. We hope it was so enjoyable that you find your way back again.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Fondly,
The Malbone Team

I have been to The Francis Malone House a few times over the years and it just keeps getting better and better each time. This trip was a birthday present for my fiancé and I requested flowers and dark chocolate covered strawberries to be in the room when we arrived. As promised, they were waiting there for us. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and shown to our room. When we arrived in the room there was soft, classical music playing from the clock radio. A very welcome reception after a long drive. The room was decorated with class and the bed and pillows were to die for. I had to wake my fiancé up every morning so we wouldn't miss breakfast. It was so comfortable, she didn't want to get out of bed.

Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10 and the choices are usually an egg dish and a pancake/french toast type of dish. However, they also have scones, muffins, croissants, yogurt, oatmeal and fresh fruit. They even had gluten free bread for my fiancé!Breakfast varies by the day but was unbelievably tasty the 3 mornings we were there.

Since we were lucky enough to arrive before 6, we were able to take advantage of afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is served from 3-6 every day. Iced tea, iced coffee and lemonade accompany a myriad of amazing food. It would take to long to list all the choices and they change every day. You do not want to miss afternoon tea, it really was the highlight of our day. We grabbed some food and drinks and headed out to the courtyard and sat in the Adirondack chairs enjoying our food, surrounded by blooming flowers and the most beautiful tree that was in full bloom. Even though the Inn is right on Thames street, you can't really hear any noise when sitting in the courtyard. It is absolutely a beautiful setting.

The Inn is in walking distance (actually, right in) the downtown area. We walked to dinner every night we were there. The only time we used our car was to head to the beach. Other than that, everything you need is right there. Did I mention that parking is included and is right behind the Inn. Parking is a nightmare in downtown Newport, so having a spot right in town was key.

To top it all off, the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Each morning we were greeted with a smile and someone came over to our table to introduce themselves and see how we were enjoying our breakfast as well as our stay. When I received the confirmation email, they asked if I wanted them to make dinner reservations anywhere. I politely declined, as I had already made them, but they are more than happy to help out any way they can. One year, they actually got me a reservation at a restaurant that didn't take reservations! It was awesome!

I can't say enough about The Francis Malbone House. It's the only place I would stay when visiting Newport and can't wait for my next visit!

Dear Robert,
Wow! Thank you so much for your glowing review. We are thankful that you continue to stay with us while in Newport. It was a pleasure putting the strawberries and flowers in the room, knowing it was a birthday surprise for your fiance. We are very happy to hear that she found the bed so comfy that she didn't want to get up! Perhaps next year's bday gift?!:)
We are really passionate about our breakfast and tea, so knowing how much you both enjoyed it makes it all worth it! The courtyard is in full bloom right now and most guests are enjoying the view out there. We are glad you were able to unwind and spend time in the courtyard.
Again, thank you for the kind words. Our staff was thrilled to read your review. We truly look forward to your next visit and the opportunity to provide you the same great service.
Enjoy the rest of summer!

Warm Regards.
The Malbone Team
