Lovely area with many excellent restaurants and shops on the San Antonio River.
An enjoyable walk but the best way to see it is the Go Rio River Cruise.

wow, the people were very nice to our airman, congratulating him, gave discounts, had a nice boat ride, and got to see the Alamo. Wish there were more obvious signs on where Alamo is though. But this whole area is an adventure. Loved it

Robert H. H. Hugman's incredible vision in 1929, to construction 1938-1940, and to it's rebirth in 1968 has left San Antonio with the masterpiece we see today. The Riverwalk now extends south to the missions, to the convention center and now north past the Pearl Brewery complex. The barge rides or a walk around the main loop present you with different architecture, restaurants, and incredible landscape designs around every bend. We enjoyed eating canal side at the many restaurants during the day and particularly at night when the area seemed to come alive with all the surrounding lights. At times you forget you are in the middle of one of the country's largest cities.

Very nice for a walk and to stop for a drink or meal. Great people watching, and generally quite dog friendly.
