Stayed at the H Derby House in historic Salem, when my girlfriend and I went for a short romantic escape in Boston in August, 2014. Getting to the House was straightforward, as was parking nearby. We were greeted by a friendly host and were pleased to discover a comfortable room. The house is pretty old, which gives it a lot of cachet. It is close do downtown, which makes going out for lunch or dinner by foot a breeze. Public transportation to Boston is simple and the train station is only a short walk away. The ferry is only a bit farther, but worth the experience.
We were pleased at the warm reception and friendly service we received from Phil, Jocelyn and their employees. We were treated to a nice breakfast each morning, an occasion to get to know the other guests and converse with our hosts as if we were personal guests of theirs.
All in all, the nice location, old-school cachet, and warm, friendly hospitality makes this a great location for a romantic or family get away, one which I would heartily recommend! Kudos to Jocelyn and Phil! Look forward to visiting you again!More
