I love old hotels that make great use of vintage space. For the most part, Hotel Prov does this. It is on a great street, walking distance to a wonderful coffee house and lots more. It is trying hard to be a great boutique hotel, and could with just a little more effort.

My main complaint was about cleanliness. There was a thick layer of dust (super visible) on the headboard, and the bathroom was not so clean either. Maybe it was because we stayed in a double queen room that was not so popular? It should have been freshened.

The staff were great although had some difficulty in locating our car, with little communication.

I would give it another try, but do hope that they get the cleaning done.

We arrived earlier than check in time at Hotel Providence. The staff was gracious and offered to hold our belongings and to call when our room was cleaned and ready.
Immediately upon hearing our name, the clerk stated that they saw our request to have a down free/hypoallergenic room and they would accommodate our request. That was very impressive!
The lobby is small but comfortable. We waited there and the clerk gave us the WiFi code without our asking. After a while, we wandered around the area. Not long after, the clerk called to say our room was ready. They really provided excellent service.
The room was actually a junior suite. It was clean and comfortable. The refrigerator kept our beverages cold which was more than we could say for the hotel we'd stay at before this in Boston.
We were a bit surprised that the restaurant in the hotel stopped serving breakfast at 10am. It caused us to go out to seek out and find a great bakery nearby for coffee and breakfast. That worked out quite well. Head over to Ellie's at 61 Washington Street. You'll be happy you did!
Check out was a breeze and the new staff was equally friendly and helpful at Hotel Providence.

Great location, cool unique vibe. Enjoyed the cookies - nice touch! The Wordsworth suite was cool and comfortable! They ran out of coffee in the lobby and it took a long time to replace but at least the thought of complimentary coffee was there!

We had our “semi annual “ girls night overnight last Friday. We stayed at the Hotel Providence. We were promptly greeted by staff that was ready to assist us from the moment we arrived, and continued to feel welcome throughout our stay. The entire staff was friendly. They were always smiling, and available to help. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable! I was impressed by the uniquely classic atmosphere of this hotel. We loved it & will recommend to everyone!

We really liked the hotel and location, although, sadly, so many storefronts in the beautiful old office buildings are empty. We all got a great night sleep. We weren't thrilled with the "upgrade" my sister got to a "suite" in the other building. Stick with a regular room. Ice machine situation ridiculous. Really needs ice on every other floor, at least.

We had a terrific view of the church and were able to explore downtown and College Hill on foot. Highly recommended.

Dear beckyorjohn,

I am glad to hear that you would highly recommend us and that you had a great view of Grace Church across the street. It certainly is a great view! I am saddened to hear that you weren't thrilled with the upgrade that we were able to provide you, sorry about that. In the future, please ask for the rooms to be close together and in the Lederer wing and we will make sure both rooms have a great view! We do have a great location with Brown University only a short walk from us. We hope to see you again soon.

Regards,
Matt Chauvin
