The hotel was fine and the location is good, but would probably not stay there again. My gripes:

- Paying for parking at a hotel like this just doesn't feel right. The area doesn't appear to be parking constrained
- Still not serving any food for some reason. Can't understand why there is no breakfast available. Restaurants seem to be able to safely serve food, why can't the hotel.
- Front desk personnel were polite but not helpful. We arrived at 3PM (which we indicated on our reservation and when checking in through the app) and they made little effort to get us into our room before the 4PM. It seemed like quite a stretch that there were zero rooms available at that time. Particularly given that they were not fully booked. They had every excuse - housekeeping won't answer, we're short staffed, etc.
- Basic things like getting feather-free pillows (again, in my reservation) proved difficult. We had to go to the desk to pick them up and even when we did they weren't feather free?!?! Not asking for much, just basic competence and helpfulness
- This was the first time I have ever checked into a hotel and found earplugs on the nightstands. Seemed weird, until we heard the noise at night. I have no idea what was going on above us, but it seemed like equipment being dragged around overnight.

The front desk staff was absent for long periods of time. The shampoo/conditioner dispenser wan't refilled prior to our stay, & can't be removed to squeeze out the last drops. The key cards kept deactivating. The grab-n-go breakfasts were varied from day to day - sometimes there would be fruit, sometimes a muffin, but not always. One day I saw the bananas on the counter & asked why there was no fruit in the breakfast bag, & was told that the fruit was not included, but the next day, it was. The housekeeping staff can't come in daily due to COVID, but they didn't pick up the trash set outside of our door for 24+ hours, twice. The worst part of our stay was the terrible noise from above our room (#256). Not typical footsteps from above. I thought there was maybe a laundry service or housekeeping area above me. It sounded like someone was dropping & rolling heavy objects on the floor. The noises started at 5 am, but on our 3rd day it started at 3 am. The front desk assured me that the previous guests had checked out, but the next guests kept the same hours & made the same noises as the previous guests. I had to call the front desk and complain about the noise. I can only say that at the very least, there is improper or inadequate insulation between the floors. I did not sleep well for 3 nights. With so many options for hotels in Salt Lake City, I will certainly not be choosing this one again.

First and for most, the staff was awesome! The rooms clean. The beds and pillows were comfy. All things this hotel was true and true to a Marriott hotel. The location of this hotel is fine except for the club next door. Marriott left ear plugs on the night stand but those would not even help when at 2 am there was an incredible amount of honking (I think people thinking they were funny) that continued for 15+ min. The music was loud from 11 pm and on. The people were loud. We had the tv on for awhile to help drown out the noise from outside. I’m not a light sleeper so this was disappointing.

Klutzgurl - Thank you for recent stay and review of the the Fairfield Salt Lake City Downtown! We are happy to see that your experience with our staff, cleanliness and amenities were what you have come to expect while staying with the Marriott brand.

We are disappointed to hear of your experience with noise from the adjacent night club. We are aware that being in a downtown location some noise is inevitable and have therefore we have taken proactive steps to provide amenities such the ear plugs, white noise machines and our sleep well channels. While we understand that this is not a cure all, we hope that you understand we are trying.

Once again, thank you and we hope to host your next visit to Salt Lake City!

Top-of-the-line Fairfield Inn!! The room was spotless with pretty decor. The front desk staff was friendly, professional and genuine.
In town for USA Fencing’s December NAC tournament, I booked Fairfield because the chain always provides quality rooms. This Fairfield is above and beyond the chain’s usual great quality. On my next visit to Salt Lake City, I’ll definitely stay here again

Great experience all around. The employees were very accommodating and friendly with suggestions of where to eat and things to see. We loved the bowl of apples in the lobby. We LOVED the chocolate bars we got at check-in and went out in search of a store to buy more. The suite we were upgraded to was one of the best we've ever had. We really appreciated the newspapers in the lobby.
