I won't be back

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Dec 2016via mobile
When I arrived my first impressions of this large, busy hotel weren't that favourable. It looked like it was overdue for refurbishment and when I asked about an early check-in I was told I couldn't check-in until 3pm without paying extra. The staff, however, were friendly and appeared a little embarrassed about this policy.

Once I had checked in I found that my first impressions weren't far off the mark, the room was in desperate need of attention and, frankly, the bathroom needed to be stripped out and replaced.

Based on the rest of my experience I decided to have breakfast elsewhere.

The only positive things I can say are that the staff are very friendly, the location and views are the only other things the hotel's got going for it.

If I return to Saipan I'd chose to stay elsewhere.

I stayed two night at this hotel due to the availability of other hotels in Saipan.

The rooms are old, dirty and in need of some good maintenance/ complete renovation. They lobby is tired and the general condition of the hotel is poor.

The staff are quite rude as well.

I would suggest finding another hotel to stay at in Saipan....avoid this one at all costs!

My wife and I decided to stay at the Grandvrio because the price was right; we ended up paying around $110/night for a double room. Two largeish twins, but my wife and I could snuggle down on one.

It's definitely an older hotel, the rooms (in the main tower, there are two very nice looking newer towers with the bigger rooms in them) are a little worn and smell a bit musty when you first enter them. You get used to the smell quickly though, and it's really a small price to pay for the location. A large supermarket is right next door, the beach borders the hotel, and every room has at least a little bit of an ocean view.

Would I recommend this as a honeymoon hotel? Nah. Is it good for a couple with no kids? Hell yeah. Probably pretty decent for families too, although you'd definitely want a bigger room.

Nice location and staff, but otherwise nothing to write home about. Food, bleh. Rooms, bleh. Bottom line: old Japanese resort that could use some serious tlc. Run down and ready for some new Chinese investment.

Highly not recommend this hotel or motel.
Why I stay this hotel Coz Hyatt no room !
    1. So old style for the room
    2. Room looks like never be renovated
    3. Guess most of the flight arrive at midnight, you will wake up around 2-3 pm when the People go inside their room and close the door ! I woke up every midnight !
    4. A lot of impolite guest.... During check in, breakfast and check out. They don't understand or they don't know how to line up. Just walk in front of you and check in or take the food !
    5. Wireless slow like hell
    6. Some staff are friendly and can speak Japanese. But some staff looks like they don't wanna work ....
    7. The shower room looks ugly and dirty

The Grandvrio is like several other beachfront hotels on Saipan - in need of refurbishment. The lobby and pool areas look fun and inviting, but the rooms are basic, small and poorly fitted out. The standard room I was given had two single beds, quite uncomfortable. Pillows were equally hard and unpleasant. I asked for a large bed when I booked and an airport pickup. Neither were delivered. I'm guessing that the hotel does not read the special requests on the bookings.

The room is dark too, only a few lights and, a pet hate of mine, hardly any accessible power outlets. The bathroom was falling to bits, the shower over the bath tub was not very good and most of the TV channels were "subject to negotiation" between the hotel and the cable service, i.e. not available.

On the upside, the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. And the location is pretty good too, because you can walk easily to the main area of Garapan. If you can book a room at the Hyatt, do it.

Room tip: The best rooms are at the Hyatt
