Review of Victoria Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Jul 2016via mobile
The Victoria hotel is a conveniently located hotel in Garapan within walking distance to many places to eat, drink, and whatever else you may choose to do while visiting the beautiful island of Saipan.

Round trip shuttle service is easily arranged through the very friendly front desk staff via telephone prior to arrival. This service is also available to take you to other locations around the island for a charge and his availability is 24-hours a day.

My experience with the driver operating the shuttle was that he shows up within about 10 minutes of the time you request him and he's generally very friendly and happy to make recommendations as to what sites to see around the island. That service will run you $50 (USD) from the airport to the hotel and then back to the airport on the day of your departure. This fee is paid directly to the hotel and then the driver gets his cut.

The front desk staff that I had the pleasure of working with were Katia (Russian) and Marie (Filipina). Between the charm and knowledge alone that these two beautiful ladies displayed, I would consider staying there again.

The room didn't have a safe but did have a small fridge, decent internet, good air conditioning, and a comfy bed. Certainly a solid choice of a place to stay for those not requiring a 5-star hotel and traveling on a budget.

Thank you Katia and Marie!
See you next time I'm on Saipan...

Just stayed for 3 nites and although the outside of the hotel looks pretty rough the room I had on the third floor was great. It was clean, spacious, good a/c,a refrigerator and good t.v.It has Wi-Fi and is only 50 yards from the beach and all the action in Garapan. In the building is a good well-priced Japanese restaurant and next door The Café on the Park is great for breakfast.
The Russian manageress and her Phillipino staff were so nice and helpful and I will stay there again. Not luxury but great value for money.

Room tip: no views but I would go for the third floor

We booked our stay through a travel agency for a nicely discounted price and ended up in this hotel.
    - Room is big by French/Japanese standard
    - Simple and good furniture... nothing fancy. Similarly, the hotel itself does not have much charm, it is simply functional.
    - Room is clean. Note that the bath tub was a bit rusty.
    - Staff is nice and always welcoming.
    - Location-wise, it's in Garapan so easy access to restaurants (Too many massage salons for me, but that's an other story). We liked the cocktails on the Hyatt beach for sunset (to put a romantic touch in that short trip).

I am a business traveler who stayed in the Hilton when I was being paid but stay here on my own nickel. They have good a/c and free wifi. The coffee shop next door is great. I arrived at 3am and was let into my room for a $20 extra fee--cheap because it let me get some sleep instead of staying awake until 2pm check in. It is basic clean hotel with great service. No elevator but I dragged this 67 year old body and bags up the stairs. Lobby and halls not air conditioned but room is. Small refig and tv. I like it and will stay here again if I return. The few bad reviews are probably from the type of person who should not try and go economy--go down the street to the 5 star place and pay triple the money.

This was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for many years.
The decor was poor. The hallway looked creepy and very un welcoming that made me feel I was at a railway station. It seemed like it hasn't been updated since it opened.
Then got into my room, it was very dim. A dirty carpet and, rusted fridge, cracked bathroom with loudly fan, balcony was totally old, the bed was uncomfortable.
In brief, I just wanted out...Be warned!
The reception staff was fine and location was convenient but I won't be returning here.
