I stayed with Julie and Jo for a night. I was travelling with my husband and 2 teenage boys age 14 and 16. We arrived in the pouring rain but were greeted by our lovely hosts and made a warm drink. We were later offered a lovely glass of NZ sav blanc before we headed out for the evening. The rooms were spotless, extremely comfortably with everything you needed. The bathroom had lovely products to use and a powerful shower. The weather didn't spoil our stay, we spend the evening in the local hot pools and hiked to the glacier the next morning. This was of course after an amazing breakfast - homemade yoghurt, granola, pancakes and full cooked breakfast.
This is a definitely a spot to rest your tired head after a long days driving along the west coast.

We stayed with Jo & Julie for 2 nights, we wish it could have been longer. What a lovely home, we had the top floor and were very comfortable. Spectacular views, healthy and delicious breakfast. Such attention to detail, help in planning our time in Franz Josef, and wonderful chats. We left two friends behind!

Aw wow Di the pleasure was all ours as we enjoyed our chats with you and your family. We do take great joy in setting our guests off in the right direction so they make the most of their time here in Franz Josef. You were lucky though - the weather couldn't have been better, I know - heart stopping views aren't they especially as you did the glorious Air Safaris trip. Until we meet again, Warmest thoughts Julie and Jo.

My husband and I loved our stay in the guest cottage. The cottage was perfect - plenty of room, a comfortable bed, kitchenette, an unbelievable assortment of complimentary teas, coffees, hot chocolate and an outside sitting deck that had incredible views of the mountains. The cottage had every amenity I could think of. Our hosts, Julie and Jon, we're so welcoming and gave us lots of help in choosing places to visit around the area. They even had a sheet printed out when we left that gave all the suggested stopping points and driving times for our trip to Lake Wanaka. It was great . Julie had homemade treats in our cottage each day which were delicious. Breakfast was relaxed with a good choice of food. We liked chatting with other guests and Julie and Jon. The location of this B&B is about 5 minutes or so from the town which I liked as it is very private and peaceful. The no shoes policy inside makes good sense to me as it keeps everything clean and grit free. I highly recommend Ribbonwood for a Franz Josef stay.

My husband and I could not be more delighted with our stay here at Ribbonwood. The property is a very short drive from Franz Josef township and a welcome relief to stay in a quiet setting. We enjoyed a very comfortable bed and the bath was so relaxing.
Thanks so much to Julie and Joe for your very warm and caring hospitality. Your garden was so lovely and relaxing to walk through and your eco friendly caring nature is something that is very close to our way of living.
We are so grateful to enjoy some of the food right out of your garden.
We highly recommend this property as a must stay!
Regards, Michelle and Greg

The Ribbonwood Retreat Bed and Breakfast was the best place we stayed on our 30-day mom and daughter tour of New Zealand. We booked the cottage since it had two beds, both which were extremely comfortable. The cottage is separate from the main house, has tons of space, and offers exceptional views off the front and back deck. The college also has a small kitchen so you can make plenty of hot tea or coffee.

I had read on their website that Julie could booked tours for visitors. This was a great added advantage for us since it was one day that I didn't have to plan. Julie asked really good questions to make sure we had tours aligned with our interests and stamina. We ended up having heavy rain one day, which interrupted some of our plans, but we had a great time anyway.

Julie made homemade bread and treats each day, which where very welcome in the cold rain. Breakfast was also outstanding with homemade crepes filled with fresh fruit and topped with rhubarb and yogurt. If you wanted more food, a full English breakfast was also available.

Julie and Jon do everything possible to make your stay A+++++. If anything was needed, all you had to do was ask. They seek to ensure your stay is pleasant and enjoyable. Make sure you read their cottage book on how Ribbonwood was created and some of the contributions made to New Zealand by both Julie and Jon.

We loved hosting you both and it's no wonder as you are so positive and complimentary thank you so much! We did make the best plans only to have the weather dash them but that did not dampen your spirits. Luckily one of the excellent guided trips we planned (Exposed) visiting the alpine fault still went ahead! We enjoyed our conversation together and learning about your place. Thanks so much for staying with us at Ribbonwood, see you next time!
