The dining room is small and is at the centre of the residential area next to the reception. The menu is also small but that seems a sensible strategy so as to focus on good quality. We ate here two nights and the food was first rate on both occasions. The first night we had the king salmon with wasabi dressing and the second night the lamb backstrap with garlic and thyme. The cooking was excellent as were the ingredients. We also had the Stone-ground dukkah and the fresh basil pesto as starters and the saucy chocolate pudding with cointreau. The wines were good quality and, for New Zealand, reasonably priced. The service is personable and polished. This restaurant is a fine example of focus and excellence and deserves top marks.
