We were booked to do a scenic flight over the Franz Joseph Glacier, however the weather did not play its part and we couldn't go, it was unsafe to fly.
The guys at Heliservices were awesome, they tried their best to get us up in the air, kept in contact with us if things looked like improving, even offered us a scenic coastal flight but again the weather was not good, we were given a credit which we could keep until we used it or on sell if we wished.
By chance we stopped at Haast on our way to Wanaka and ended up asking directions, turned out it was the Heliservices Hasst base so they said 'give me 20 minutes, I'll warm the helicopter up and take you for flight'.
The kids loved it, first time in a helicopter, out over the Hasst river and up and down the coast line for a bit.
Such a great surprise and really great service.
Even tough we didn't get to see the glacier I couldn't recommend these guys more.
