Nicely sized modern room. Located close to the Fox Glacier town for dinning and tours. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. Lake Matheson is also near by which is a must do when in the area. Hotel also offers meals if you pre-order.

Worst place I stayed in 3 weeks in NZ. Arrived to be told that our booking for two adults one child was only one bed and they were full so no arrangements could be made. Then the desk guys said breakfast was included which made sense as it was about 50-70 dollars more than any other “like” hotel we stay in last 3 weeks. After eating a very average breakfast we were charged $75! and told by same desk guy that he had not said it was included-the story about breakfast had changed. The 1gb of internet was useless as it was so weak at night that you could not use it. Take another option if offered this place.

With only one main road running off the highway, this hotel was very easy to find. On arrival, we were advised we had been room-upgraded to a suite, which was a very pleasant surprise. Located at the rear of the building, our suite overlooked the surrounding country, which was quite serene. The room itself was huge, it all appeared to be very recently fitted out and the bathroom had a newly-fitted spa. Everything was very comfortable and well appointed, including a writing desk. The staff service provided was exemplary.

One small downside was the designated smoking area was right outside one of our windows. Luckily there were few smokers staying with us that night.

Another more serious issue was the all-gravel parking and driveway area with my wife being permanently on crutches. Loose gravel is quite precarious for mobility-limited people especially those on crutches who need stable ground getting in and out of vehicles. For those in wheelchairs, it essentially bogs them down. A "handicapped parking only" area located broadside to an existing concrete path would help greatly. Unfortunately for us, a tour bus was parked in that exact spot overnight. Perhaps a rethink on designated parking locations might be in order. There was plenty of room for buses to park elsewhere.

Overall, a very good stay.

Room tip: Some rooms face the parking area and will be lit by arriving headlights later.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for your feedback, I personally really appreciate your time!
Appreciate the suggestions , it is in pipe line to get the car park tarseal and designate the parking lots.
There are 4 designated smoking areas around the property with ashtrays etc, apologies if someone came right to your window and smoked!

Once again thank you very much for the feedback will definitely consider it and work through! Lastly, great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel.

Kind Regards

As other reviews have stated, this hotel is placed out of the centre of Fox glacier. This means it is a short walk to the village Centre.

The room was clean and modern, and at night, exceptionally quiet. The views were stunning. The bed was very difficult to get out of on a quiet morning! My only gripes were that it wasn't clear about the minibar situation and I almost found myself eating the nuts on offer, which would have been a costly mistake. The WiFi was poor

It was well priced and the owner very friendly. I did not try the food.

Highly recommended by me.

Good Morning

Thank you very much for your feedback, highly appreciate it!
In regards to the minibar items, there is a price list next to where nuts and other items are placed and the information is available in the compendium as well. Anyhow, appreciate your concern and will start advising all the future guest from now on.
Unfortunately, with the location we are still on old dial up ADSL internet we don't have VDSL or Fibre cable with high speed. The speed we get here is around 9mb per second and compared to Fibre which is around 35mb per second!
Once again thank you very much for your valuable time and really appreciate it!
Hope you enjoy your vacations!

Kind Regards

Perfectly positioned hotel with beautiful views of the snow capped mountains and fox glacier itself. It's tranquil surroundings made for a pleasant night sleep. The hotel manager provided friendly service, going above and beyond to ensure we were settled in and remained comfortable for the duration of our stay. My partner and I's experience of Fox Glacier was enhanced by our stay in this modern and people-orientated hotel. We would recommend this experience to anyone wishing to immerse themselves in what Fox Glacier has to offer.
