I originally thought I'd booked us to stay in Franz Josef but very glad I was mistaken. Fox definitely smaller and not as busy so really enjoyed it. I'd spoken to Christian a couple of times before we arrived as was trying to figure out how best to organise a helicopter trip. Followed his advice and waited until we arrived. Very helpful staff.
Hotel is in great location with nicely appointed rooms and the breakfast was plenty. When we stayed they were pretty full which was great to hear. No problems with any guest or road noice. Hope that things start to improve for the area.
Great selection of toiletries.

We stayed two nights at the delightful Te Weheka Distinction hotel at Fox Glacier, and found it to be a very pleasant experience, made doubly so by the informative, helpful and friendly manager, Christian. Upon arrival, he explained everything we needed to know about ensuring a great visit, particularly advising us to be up and at the glacier viewpoint, and lake Matheson, before 10 am so as to ensure a clear sky and best view of the mountains and glacier. This was spot on advice, and our views next morning were framed in brilliant blue sky, not a cloud in sight. He also recommended a great restaurant nearby, Betsey Jane’s, which was so good we booked again the second night.
The room itself was on the second floor, spacious, well appointed, spotlessly clean, with roomy bathroom including shower and bath. Well stocked tea and coffee making facilities. The view was pleasant and there was a small balcony. Breakfast is included and is a very nicely presented, wide range of fruit and cereals then several cooked options. Again, the service here was attentive and friendly. There is a very nice lounge available to relax in and guest laundry facilities too.
