Really friendly really clean good value

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Mar 2019
Stayed with our motor home for two nights. Really friendly service from Les and Viv. All facilities very clean and quite new. Large common room area. They have done a great job converting a former works depot into a camping ground. Perhaps not the prettiest of sites but a great stop after or before travelling through the Haast Pass. Good and clean kitchen facilities.

Great place to stay. Donna on reception was so friendly & helpful. Great facilities, spacious, clean & well-maintained. Plenty of toilets & showers. Stayed in our campervan. Nice area for powered sites & camping. Easy access to main building & all the facilities. Plenty of outdoor picnic tables to use. Voucher for free wi-fi much appreciated.

Room tip: Lodge rooms were within the same building as the bathroom, lounge & kitchen facilities so easy access. Motels had nice view.

The service was nice when checking in, and the receptionist gave us some good tips about the area.

The room was tiny, and the common area huge. Their was a persistent draft in the room and you could hear footsteps above and the conversation(s) next door. You have to make your own bed also, and their was no complimentary tea or coffee.

BUT, considering we paid so little for the room the amenities were sufficient for our stay.

Camped here for one night while biking. The front office lady was very helpful and kind. You got to buy wifi. The camping area is beautiful and so is the dining kitchen lounge area. There's lots of books to read. The toilet and shower are clean with hot water. Plenty of kitchen utensils to use.

Stayed here for one night in a campervan. It is by no means a scenic holiday park but is good for a short overnight stop when completing the long drive up or down the west coast and the owner was helpful and friendly. The area is very remote and we had no wifi or mobile network coverage so did not see much point in purchasing wifi here. The kitchen is good and very well equipped with lots of seating areas. The showers cost $0.50 for 7 minutes use which whilst I appreciate this saves water, was slightly irritating when you have already paid for your stay which isn't exactly cheap - supplying a coin each per night might have been nice and would still save water. We also struggled with the fact that none of the campervan sites are numbered meaning that if we had gone out in the van at any point we might have lost our pitch so this put us off driving anywhere until we left the following day.
