Great place helpful staff

Camped here for one night while biking. The front office lady was very helpful and kind. You got to buy wifi. The camping area is beautiful and so is the dining kitchen lounge area. There's lots of books to read. The toilet and shower are clean with hot water. Plenty of kitchen utensils to use.

Stayed here for one night in a campervan. It is by no means a scenic holiday park but is good for a short overnight stop when completing the long drive up or down the west coast and the owner was helpful and friendly. The area is very remote and we had no wifi or mobile network coverage so did not see much point in purchasing wifi here. The kitchen is good and very well equipped with lots of seating areas. The showers cost $0.50 for 7 minutes use which whilst I appreciate this saves water, was slightly irritating when you have already paid for your stay which isn't exactly cheap - supplying a coin each per night might have been nice and would still save water. We also struggled with the fact that none of the campervan sites are numbered meaning that if we had gone out in the van at any point we might have lost our pitch so this put us off driving anywhere until we left the following day.

During our recent camper van adventure, there was a snowstorm in the area and the highway was closed. We were left with no option but to find accommodations in the area. Luckily for us, this little oasis was just a couple hours backtracking. There was an obvious buzz because of the influx of stranded visitors so it was quite busy. We paid for a motor home slot and use their facilities.

Pros----
- The showers are coin operated, you get a set amount of time. The water was HOT, which was highly appreciated. Bring your own toiletries and towels of course.
- The kitchen was well equipped and was pretty large, great place to make some noodles and breakfast the next day.
- There was a large dining area with plenty of seating and a large living room area with a tv playing sports.
- The hosts were very friendly, as are all kiwis, They were great at updating us when the road was clear, the poor couple was inundated with guests constantly asking if they had any info on the roads and they did a great job of staying calm and professional.

This place was a lifesaver. Thanks so much Haast Lodge!

Adequate, but personally our stay was very hot and noisy. As we were travelling at the height of the holiday season, hostel was full to bursting. The dorm rooms above were sweltering with heat from the cooking in the kitchen facilities directly beneath, and the smell of cooking oil lingered in the air. However, owner/operators were lovely, efficient, and organized.

Room tip: Avoid upstairs dorms as they trap the heat from kitchen below

Stayed here for one night in a backpackers room. The room itself was just big enough for 2 single beds but was more than adequate. Our room was upstairs and if the weather is warm, the upstairs rooms heat up significantly so better with a downstairs room if hot. The kitchen/dining/lounge area was all well equipped and clean with plenty of space to relax or cook. Bathrooms were also very clean and whilst it does cost $0.50 for a 7 minute shower, this is included in the price. And 7 minutes is adequate!! Would definitely recommend.
