We heard so much about jet boating all over NZ but so glad we chose to go with bullet jet boat! The river was gorgeous with lots of rapids and spins. The owner of the company is so passionate about the river and local history. Was a perfect mix of craziness and tranquillity. You won't get an experience like this anywhere else. You also get free admission across the swing bridge and can go on the mining walks on the other side of the river either before or after the boating trip! We loved it and want to do it again!
yeee haaa thats what I like to hear, thanks for the top review Amber your a star.I'm really glad you were so happy with your adventure with us and hope you have heaps more in old NZ adios Marko
Top notch owner/skipper for our trip - super-entertaining and friendly. A good balance of thrilling jet boat action as well as stops to take in the natural beauty and photo opportunities. Mark jumped out partway through the trip and used our cameras to take complimentary photos of us in the boat - nice touch. Came to the Buller gorge especially to add this jet boat trip to the ones I have already done. Don't miss it - you will enjoy it. Tip - the sandflies are relentless in their attack on the shores of the river waiting to get on/off the boat. Slather yourself in strong repellent and DONT miss anywhere - these sandflies will find that tiny bit of skin you missed.
thanks very much for the feed back and top review from a regular jetboater,I do enjoy helping people with their special memories.oh yes and your right if it's a bit cloudy and ready to rain the sandies can be a little fiesty best to wear light longs tucked into socks and job done all the best Mark
We are a French family of 3 and we are just back from our New Zealand holidays. We had so much fun that morning with Mark and his jet boat in the Buller gorge that we wish to share with other travellers this highlight of our family vacation. We stop by as we wanted to see and walk on the swing bridge, really a worth stop. From above we saw the jetboat and its crazy captain on the river, and despite being not very keen of speed boats, we followed the advice of the kind lady at the counter, and decided to give a try. It was the most exciting and funniest tour of the entire trip. Mark is a show-man, who knows to entertain his guests; his jokes, boat spins and sorrunding nature create a perfect mix. Don't hesitate to make a detour to the Buller gorge and come onboard!
wow what a fantastic report thank you very much for your kind words and high praise I really appreciate them. It's such a fun job and always a pleasure to try and make peoples hopes for an adventure come true .I wish you all the best and happy memories Mark
We stopped because I wanted to walk over NZ's longest swing bridge after reading about it in the AA Traveller Visitor's Guide. Lovely Sandy in the swing bridge office told us how great this ride is. She was absolutely right. We loved every moment of it. Mark is a great, fun, safety conscious operator. So pleased we got to walk over the swing bridge, around the beautiful track and do the jet boat ride. Would definitely recommend it.
Hi Cicely thanks for the neat response and really glad you had a great time with us Sandys cooool alright ,all the best in the future Mark and the team
very good freindly host made lots of interesting points about the area along the way, fun trip on the river. will make another trip in the future for sure.
Hi thank you for your kind review and hope to see you again sometime, all the best BCJ
As a family of ten including a set of grandparents, a four and six year old and two older teenagers we were travelling on the beautiful road from Nelson to Punakaiki. We decided to pullover at the next place for lunch and that just happened to be the swing gorge. That lunch ended up being 3 hours long! And I think it was the best unplanned visit we did throughout our entire trip although my husband thinks the helicopter at mount cook just pipped it... but I had far more fun on the jet boat.
We did the swing bridge which was lovely and walked round the site and bumped into Mark aka the pirate. We did a good deal with him and he made this adventure epic. It was 40 minutes of screaming, laughing and adrenaline. Mark was very professional but also hilarious. Thank you so much for this experience Mark I don’t think any of us will forget you.
This was not on our itinerary because we didn’t know about it. I hope if anyone is travelling the same road as we did they get to stop and experience this thrill.
Thanks again Mark x
