We stopped by for coffee and cake after a hike. The waitress was excellent - very friendly and efficient. The cake ($12) was stale and not our idea of carrot cake. It was not moist and it did not have the expected soft cream cheese topping that all carrot cakes have. It came with whipped cream and a berry sauce. This combination was weird. The topping on the cake was solid like marzipan. We removed all of it. My siblings coffees were fine. My coffee (a soy flat white) was awful. I did not know that soy milk curdles but it does. My soy coffee was curdling. This cafe was such a disappointment. It is located at the Chateau Tongariro so we expected much more than this.
