Pretty good stay

Review of Warkworth Lodge
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Aug 2019via mobile
My Mum and two daughters recently stayed here for just one night as we were travelling. The lounge and kitchen area were really nice and the room had everything we needed. The room was a little bit cold and took a while to heat up with the heater and it took quite a long time after our arrival for a TV to be brought up (which we had thought came with the room). Other than that though I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and staff were both helpful and friendly

We are have added extra blankets and a second heater as the one is not enough for the big suite.

We appreciate your feed back and wish you all the best for your travels. Liz

It was a last minute booking and we were very happy with our family room and amenities. We had a washing machine which worked out well. Room was very clean and tidy. Hosts were lovely and very friendly. Thanks again for a quick and easy get away.

We were a bit desperate for accommodation given it was late at night and we were travelling from Auckland airport to Bay of Islands. Our room was basic, clean, quiet and we had a good nights sleep. Heating was very average but fortunately it sufficed. Room had a small kitchen and there was noise from the room above. The price we paid was excessive for what we got and I could have easily given it 2*. Would probably do a bit more homework next time and at least get a better price or stay elsewhere.

Room tip: Don't just turn up and ask for a room - research price and book through a website

Thank you for your thoughts this is very helpful review. We do have heating boosters that were not offered to you -I am sorry we failed on that count. It is a cold time of year and when your arrive late it is heating the room off the back foot. Pre booked rooms are heated from 4pm at this time of year.
We have price ranges from $97 to $165 for 2 people at the moment and all our lower priced rooms were full. I hope you can pop in again and we can show you these options. Our environment like many motels shine fabulously in the summer and from your comments I will work improve them them to also be cozy in the winter..

I had not pre booked and turned up out of the blue. The host graciously showed me available rooms.
We stayed in the Gold Room which is beautiful and spacious with French doors out onto a patio area.
I would definitely stay there again.

Really enjoyed our stay at this lodge, we had 2 adults and 2 kids, 7 and 3. We got the family attic room 8. Comfy beds, well kept, nice and spacious. We cooked in the large kitchen downstairs which seemed to be almost brand new. The communal living room was large and spacious and stylish and comfy. I watched the Cricket World Cup replays in there on Sky Sports.

The staff were kind and helpful. I feel for the cleaners after a family has stayed, but they lined up the kids toys on the bed and showed some kindness there.

Warkworth is a lovely little town with lights at night by the shore. It has a strong community feel, especially around the wharf as you can see all the individuals and families that have donated to its building. The Sarah Grifford boat there provides some insight in to the past history of the place and shows people have fond memories of the areas past. I really enjoyed the river walk and watching the wildlife at both high and low tide.

We've stayed several times over a few years and always feel so happy to return. The boutique hotel in the historic building is beautiful, the location is excellent, the garden view from the room is relaxing, the huge lounge and kitchen to share is a big bonus, the fire is welcoming and above all the management are warm, lovely, helpful and very informative about the area. We were able to bring our little dog which was a huge bonus. definitely highly recommended.
