Room, spotlessly clean, as was bathroom. Bed, reasonably comfortable, pillows hard, decor and room layout simplistic;
Views from balcony magnificent
Downside our room's car park was parallel to room entrance with room being the end unit in block of three, caution is required with parking to No.1. Vehicle maintains access way for other vehicles, No.2. Parked vehicle allows safe acces to entrance way. Walking around the vehicle parked over steps is precarious in daylight and in fine weather. Sadly our visit here endured extremely heavy driving rain for long periods over the day. The rain pooled in the entrance way (smooth tiled surface, and no handrail) on arrival back to unit early evening - with no light on this was an extremely dangerous situation especially for older persons. We got wet, then cold - turned on panel heater;
this did not work. Went to phone reception - no landline in room - phone books tho'.
Wifi works except only 200mbs allowance - hopeless, could get more but have to trek to the office to get it, come on people even Cafes allow more than that
Service to the units has to be requested
Will not be returning here or recommending to others. Expensive stay for what was offered
We stayed here overnight whilst on a motorcycle tour of the Coromandels area from Auckland.
The setting was perfect tranquil quiet and picturesque, rooms were spotless roomy and ideal for what we wanted
Liked it so much we considered extending our stay for and extra day but it wasn't practical
Would definitely recommend this lodge for anyone staying in the area
Very quiet, little need to leave the immediate during the day as it is adjacent to the beach and day time cafe's. Good walk and fabulous views. Only drawback is you have to drive into the town for dinner in the evening.
Very clean and exceptionally quiet. Bicycles and canoes for use if required!
We stayed in a one bedroom unit with a large sundeck and a beautiful view of the harbour. The unit was clean and comfortable with an excellent bed and pillows. The unit was well equipped with basic cooking facilities and a dishwasher. There was a large a barbecue to share with the unit next door. On the deck we had a barbecue table plus a small table and 2 deck chairs.
We were going to eat out but the view was so beautiful that we ate on our deck every night of the three nights we were there.
The location is excellent- across the road from the harbour and the opportunity to swim or kayak in one of the motel's kayaks. it is a close walk to the marina or the ocean beach. There are a couple of cafes a gentle stroll away. The motel has bikes if you want to go further and the hosts have plenty of local knowledge to share about the best places or activities. We enjoyed a walk up Paku Mountain for an amazing view. (If you want a good work out, walk the whole way; if not, drive up to the car park and take the shorter version. It requires a bit of a scramble to get up the last few metres but the view is worth it). Tairua is a wonderful location for visiting many of the beautiful beaches and attractions on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Awesome location, across the road from the water. Great views of the marina and the boats coming and going. Amazing sunset view from room. Room was a great size with all amenities. Bathroom was a bit small for 2 people at once but otherwise no problem. Free bike and paddle board use.
