This corner unit at the Makena Surf Resort was perfect for my family's eight night stay in June 2022. My wife and I stayed in the master bedroom, while our four kids (ages 13, 11, 9, and 6) crashed in the surprisingly big second bedroom. We paid a little bit more for this unit, but as soon we walked in and saw the view out of our lanai, we understood why. The view is...amazing. The ocean practically fills up the two large glass sliding doors that open nearly all the way up to allow the sounds of Hawaii to travel through the condo.
I'm not a big resort-type guy and cannot stand super crowded places like Aluani or Marriott's Wailea Beach Resort-type hotels. So, this condo's location in the much quieter Makena area was perfect for me, but was still within very quick walking distance to an amazing beach, two large pools, and hot tubs. We did venture up to Wailea a few times to hit the stores, play a round of golf, and visit some restaurants, and the drive to that area was at most five minutes. Mostly, we stayed in and cooked on the condo's gas grill on the lanai or in the fully-stocked kitchen. Makena Surf even has a nice, little workout room that met both mine (mostly resistance-training focused) and my wife's (cardio, cardio, cardio) needs.
The few times we needed anything from condo management, they were very responsive and quickly got back to us.
The condo when we arrived was super clean with a kitchen, dining room, large living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large lanai with a separate dining table. The unit came with beach chairs and sand toys for us to enjoy on the beach.
Honestly, apart from groceries, which we arranged to have delivered and unpacked for us by Maui Market Delivery, this condo had everything for us as soon as we arrived, including amazing sunset views every night.
We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip. I'm saving up now for our next trip out there.
