First thing positives,
The starters and the mains stunning. The star of the show was the steak and the mussels which were amazing.
Highly recommend them, Portmerion itself is lovely,
The grounds lovely.
Staff generally polite
The negative
The sticky toffee pudding sauce, super chemically made both me and my husband who ate it feel sick.
The main dining room was absolutely baking in the sun, but the views onto the gardens make up for it.
When you can grab a member of staff they will happily open windows or close blinds.
Unfortunately it was rather hard to get Their attention as they were gathered in full view of patrons, to have a coffee and a chat at the bar. So it took a bit of effort to flag them down.
This included, most anything really. I wouldn't begrudge them a break, but all of the servers but one who was attending to a large table. Who then was stuck also looking after the five other tables that where occupied, while a hoard of servers collected in the corner chatting away.
The bathrooms, were not clean the lady's loos had thick dust, in places, like on loo roll holders. You could see where someone previously swiped Thier finger through the dust, then more dust piled on top of that.
Basically, have a starter and main then go don't expect great service but hey you get to walk round port Marion
