We visited the Pousada de la Mar in Denia last week and were delighted to find a beautiful suite.on the corner of the building. Room 301. Great views over the port. Lovely hotel and excellent breakfast. Very comfortable bed and great situation. Charming.

Taking safety measures
The hotel is well located by the marina and if you get a room (306 upwards) which overlooks the sea, it is truly wonderful. Rooms are light, airy and spacious. Mine (306) was a corner room with fabulous views. Large bathroom and all very clean.
Lounge and public areas were very comfortable. Breakfast was good offering hot and cold items as well as a cereal section.
Two members of staff really made the stay exceptional: Marlene in the breakfast room and Paco on reception. Both were extremely friend, professional and very helpful. Definitely true assets for the hotel! Thank you both for making the stay wonderful.
Interesting experience with the first one being that it was considerably cheaper to book this hotel through the various booking sites such as Booking.Com than it was through the hotel directly.
Asked for a junior suite overlooking the marina but never had a response from the hotel and arrived to find we had a room at the side of the hotel with the handicap bathroom (not impressed) but no other rooms available so had to accept.
Room is really large which justifies its Junior Suite status but the furnishings certainly did not and this was a basic but large bedroom.
There is a restaurant and a bar but they only open from 8 in the evening and you can only use the bar if you eat in the restaurant (never been to a hotel that had no bar!)
Buffet breakfast which is good but not sure where people have raved about it in some reviews as for us it was pretty standard and we have certainly had better.
It’s a 4 star hotel so was never going to get 5 star rating from me and my comments above are why i dropped it to a 3 star, nice but not great!
Excellent room on with balcony with a direct sea view. Spotlessly clean hotel and with excellent service. Also has its own parking which is difficult to find in Spain :).. Also my son's bed was made with a proper mattress. Mattress on the main bed could be more comfortable

As it is advertised as a 4-star hotel so we did expect quite a lot.
And booking a room with a sea-view expecting a room facing the port. We did see the sea, but from a side room balcony. The room itself was large, great big bed for comfortable sleep, bedside tables and lamps on both sides. Two chairs and a table were also appreciated.
The bathroom had great light and a good shower with high pressure. Almost always with very warm water. The aircon was excellent so quick and really cold. The room had wardrobes with several hangers even though the length was not enough for dresses, worked well for shirts and tops.
The balcony is very small. When you close the door the noises from outside is almost zero. However, the noise from within the hotel is ample. All doors to the hotel rooms, bang loudly when they are closed. Noise from people talking and pulling their suitcases to their rooms is also heard.
Regarding cleaning of our room, it was uneven; the towels were changed almost every day, but one day only one bath-towel was changed and only one out of two smaller were replaced. Two days the bed was made with double sheets, the following days we got one sheet and a bedspread. The amenities were replaced randomly.
The breakfast is well provided; fresh orange juice, coffee, fruit, warm food, yoghurt and bread. Strange is though, that as the breakfast room is a mezzanine above the restaurant, that they find it okay to clean below, like using a vacuum-cleaner while you are eating.
We miss that there is no bar to buy a drink from in the afternoon, as there is plenty of large social areas where you can sit and read or play Yatzy or backgammon. The bar is in the restaurant and it is a separate business opening at 8 in the evening. The feeling at this hotel was never familiar, it was well, but not above expectation.
We love this hotel - it's at the marina in a historic building, with very comfortable rooms - some with extra-special harbor/sea views, comfortable beds, beautifully appointed and the greatest breakfast ever! It's a buffet - they're taking pains to make it covid-safe with reservations and limited seating - plexiglass and lots of room - and it can't be beat - fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, salads, cereals, yogurts, plus hot - eggs, tortilla - fresh-squeezed orange juice, coffee... y más! The hotel is full of antiquities - rugs, pottery, photos, it's a very special place.
Because of the restrictions in the Valencian Community rules, bars and restaurants closed at 6 so the hotel, very smartly, leaves china plates and silverware (not plastic!) in the room and gives you a list of restaurants that deliver when you check-in. There's a supermarket a five-minute walk away and we enjoyed our take-away sushi and wine in the lobby library, surrounded by books and art - it really was pleasant and comfortable.
