“Another relaxing stay in idyllic villa”
Reviewed 4 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is now our 3rd holiday in this villa (we also stayed for a week in June 2012). What makes us return is that we know that the quality is excellet and meets the needs of a couple with a girl and 2 boys that need seperate rooms yet are still too young to have their own hotel rooms with doors to the 'outside world' (they're aged 7 to 11). Also Sue and Miguel (the owners) are quite comfortable with you stating arrival and departure dates / times and will be as flexible as possible depending on the other bookings that they have.

To add to what I wrote last time we had couple of excursions:-

1. Lobo Park (wolf park) - worth a visit for animal lovers, not too pricey - you get a tour of various wolf enclosures and get to see some different breeds.

2. Quad biking - this was fabulous, a little prices but well worth it as you got to see a lot of the local area and it was immense fun. Sue and Miguel have the literature for these in the villa.

A new addition since the last time we went is that there is now a covered area for guests to park in which helps keep the car cooler.

As we've been 3 times in thepast 12 months we may not go there again next year but I'd say that we're very likely to go there again in the next 2 or 3 years.

“Excellent accomodation with friendly hosts in quite location”

I agree with everything said on the previous review commentary.

Right from the offset Sue (the proprietor of the property) made us feel very relaxed with our choice of accomodation. It was the first time we were going to use a villa after years of all-inclusive and half board hotels so we were novices at selecting the right place for our young family (3 children from 6 to 10 years old). Sue quickly sent bank details for paying the deposit and final balance which went very smoothly. Before departure we sent Sue a shopping list (as we arrived on a Sunday) which was all 'put away' in the kitchen cupboards and fridge for us on our arrival. Sue and Miguel were very welcoming - Sue had made us a cake and there was a bottle of wine waiting on the dining table when we arrived.

In the main room there are a few folders containing directions on how to get to the popular 'attractions' in the area - Sue's typed driving instructions are brilliant!

One point to note is that Sue and Miguel, who live in the upper section of the building, have 2 dogs. The dogs are very soppy and friendly (the kids loved them and really want to go back to visit them) but are quite large so may not be ideal for people who really don't like dogs. Sue and Miguel often offered to take our children with them to walk the dogs so we had time 'alone'.

The 3 bedrooms are well equipped for the stay with fresh bedding and big bath towels. Only 2 of the bedrooms have windows but the 3rd still stays quite light and airy.

We had wi-fi access for the duration (a password is supplied in the villa literature).

There is a TV although no TV signal - you can however watch one of the many movies that are in a giant basket by the TV.

We used the villa's cooking facilities most nights - the gas hob was very easy to use.

The views from the villa are breath-taking as the sun sets - it really is a lovely location. We spent may evenings eating outdoors either under the shaded cover or our by the pool - we even made use of the BBQ facilities there (Sue and Miguel provide all the utensils / fuel that you need - you just need to buy the food).

We're already planning on going back next year - just looking for the flights to Malaga to be at the right prices.

“Excellent value property with great hosts”

I have just returned from one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever had despite a visit to the emergency doctor and a wildfire just outside our holiday property! This is in no small part due to the hosts of this villa, Sue and Miguel. The property itself is the lower half of a villa based up a rural farm track between the villages of Alora and Piazzara. It is basically furnished but well equipped and spacious. The pool is a little on the small side but perfectly adequate. the patio and gardens are lovely and there are some great views. The local towns are pleasant enough and have the facilities you need but not a great deal of historical interest. The villa is positioned well to visit some great places inlcuding the El Chorro gorge and Guadalhorce lakes (half hour) Ronda (under an hour) and if you wish the coastal towns on the Costa (Malaga half hour).
The hosts are very helpful and understand a families needs. From the outset they were prepared to be flexible about dates, flight times and beach towels ( so we did not need to pay for extra baggage). We were met with a beautiful home made lemon cake on arrival and when Sue found out it was our sons' birthday whilst we were they she made him another cake. When our daughter was ill Miguel took us the doctor and translated. On our last day we had a late flight and they let us stay as late as we needed and gave us a lovely tea so we did not have to worry about feeding the kids. They were brilliant and we could not have asked for better hosts.
Overall this property was excellent value for money and a great base to explore. If you want to relax in the Spanish sun and avoid the hordes on the Costa then I would thoroughly recommend it.
