Nice place located in Soave center allowing a small walk before and after dinner around the historical castle.
Good the appetizers: mixed bruschette and soppressa (local salami) with fresh made polenta., a big salad with tuna.
Much better the pasta (tasteful and strongly recommended bigoli al sugo di anatra) and the local main courses (baccalà with polenta, filetto all'amarone and tagliata with grana), all deserve a second visti.
Surprising cakes with a lovely millefoglie and hand made semifreddo al torroncino deserving more than a plus.
Wide choice of local wines for all budgets, we choose a soft and warm amarone of Rocca Sveva.
Price right/cheap: 140 euros for 3 aperitif, 2 appetizers, one salad, one pasta, three main courses, two sweets and wine (38 euro the bottle itself).
Small advice: Osteria is historically a place serving wine and simple food. Serving of wine and drink seems a core business of the place with several customers inside and outside chatting and drinking. As a result the environment quite loud and probably not the best choice for a romantic dinner.
We will come back.

We had a group of 8 pop in for an unplanned luncheon, and they were able to accommodate us after a very short wait. (Another time we were unfortunately turned away because the restaurant was at capacity, so I recommend making a reservation.) We had very fresh, local food in a laidback atmosphere.

A slice of tuna coated with chopped almonds, simply fried and served with a pesto of mint - if that grabs your taste buds then this is the place for you in Soave. It was truly delicious and served in congenial surroundings by a friendly waiter. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meals so much that we returned the following evening to enjoy another meal, accompanied by the local wine. We'd love to return as it is just a short stroll to the Roxy Plaza Hotel where we were staying.

We had lunch at Osteria La Scala on August 29th after visiting the imposing castle above the town. I had their platter of local salamis and cheeses and my wife had a salad with slices of parmesan cheese. Both were HUGE! We also had local Soave red wines which were excellent and ridiculously cheap! (We just got back from NY where a glass of wine was between 8 and 17 dollars! Yikes!)
Service was friendly and the restaurant decor is a mixture of 19th century furniture with 20th century decorations. We definitely plan to return to this restaurant for dinner.

Just inside the gate and southern-western walls of Soave is a fine restaurant where the locals eat. from the conversations around us and the hellos to dinners and those strolling past, we were the only tourists. first course was pasta with tuna, tomato and pesto. then rabbit with a salad. Way too much food Of course had a great cold bottle of the local Soave Classical (which we discovered in previous trips to be the small area around the town walls and strictly controlled). Look for it - we love it. Besides great food good service, maybe a little better since we were the only non-.locals.
