The really surprising thing about this amazing place is that there is a free mini bus each day from the centre of Madonna di Campiglio as long as you have a Dolomeet card , which was free with our hotel booking. You must pre book at the tourist office the day before . The driver was great and gave us a lot of information about the area . The valley is a very special place with lots of walking of various levels, some of the waterfalls are more easily accessible than others. If you can go, do !

A rare, remote location in the Alps with huge waterfalls and deep forest. Accessibility is not so easy because of the mess of road signs in Italy ;)

It was not easy to find, so we put Carisolo as our target. For 5€ you can park and walk about 800m for the first waterfall. For 8€ you can drive all the way and even take a bus that can take you 17km for more cascades. Great walk in the woods withlots of streaming water.

This narrow, deep valley has a number of large waterfalls, walks along the river, and a small WWI cemetery and church about half-way to the end. This was an area of fighting between the Austrians and Italians during that war. In the summer, you cannot drive all the way to the end. If you only go as far as the first large waterfall (right on the road with a restaurant across from it), there is reduced entrance fee. If you drive as far as they let you go (where you cross a bridge and climb to another large waterfall), you pay the full fee. From that point on, you can only go further by their shuttle bus (or you can take the shuttle bus from the beginning of the valley). We were there June 16 and could drive as far as we wanted. One could easily spend a day here.

The waterfall itself isn't too much to look at(at lest in october when we visited), but still a nice sight.
The real attraction is the area itself. Middle of the woods, a big light-blue lake goes through the area, a lot of green around.
you can go down a path near the lake and just enjoy the air and the sights around you. You can spend 1-2 hours there easily.
