This place is hard to find - there is no sign on the north side of the building. We had to circle around and navigate in through a residential neighborhood to approach the parking lot from the back side. It's a pretty typical HI Express and it suited our needs perfectly. Brian was on duty manager that day and comp'ed our parking (Gold Status Rewards Club). We actually walked from this hotel and did the Freedom Trail backwards (start with Bunker Hill & USS Constitution), and even walked back from Boston Common. Long but fun day. We lucked out with the weather as well - overcast and mild with no rain.
Hotel was sold out both nights we were there as the Mets were playing the Red Sox and bunch of fans in orange and blue were in town. Therefore breakfast room was at or above capacity. I wish HI Express hadn't changed their cinnamon roll recipe. They used to be ooey-gooey buttery sinfulness, now they're dry with a dollop of Cinnabon icing on top. Oh well, makes them easy to resist and lighten the sugar/carb load. You can always walk a couple of minutes in any direction and do breakfast at McDonalds or Dunkin.
This place is walkable to riverfront shopping and dining in Cambridge, close to Lechmere T station on Green Line and Museum of Science. Bit of a hike to Harvard (2.5+ miles?).More
