I liked this Hotel immediately - because it had an underground car park. The reception was extremely nice, with two receptionists (very helpful) and a sitting lounge. It always gives an air of quality when there is a lounge around the reception area.
Our room was very nice - it was extremely clean and it was very comfortable. I had an excellent night's sleep.
The breakfast area was divided from the reception/lounge area by a mid wall and it worked fine. There was a much larger choice - from cereals and toast to waffle and omelette making facilities. I was quite taken aback - even the tea tasted like tea. We breakfasted like royalty - or so it felt after some of the other Hotels we had stayed in!
The Hotel was situated about 3 mins walk from the strain station - which happened to be the last stop on the subway line into Boston. So, very easy access to the amenities and places of interest in Boston City.
I would say that this Hotel was really good value for money and I recommend you try it.
It was, quite simply, a lovely Hotel.

Spent a night here as part of a weekend getaway to Boston. Hotel is easy to find & access (for Boston!), with onsite parking included and a very short walk to the "T" (MBTA), and nearby Cambridge mall. Boston's museum of Science is 1/2 mile away, easily walkable with kids, weather permitting. The hotel itself is clean and modern, either new or newly refurbished; we had a nice 2nd floor room with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast bar downstairs had the usual assortment, hot and fresh -- another plus. And the staff was very accommodating. As others have noted this is not a busy pedestrian area, but saw no problems walking to or from the T station, even coming back town late (after 11PM), as there were other couples and families walking over at the same time. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and would definitely use it again.

Room tip: Front portico is small and awkwardly placed -- fine for a sedan, pickup or large SUV might have a problem getting in & out. Note that if using the T to get in & out of Boston, the nearby Lechmere station is 2 stops past North Station, so not every Green line train runs all the way out -- check T scheduling before planning a late night in the city.

Simple and clean hotel, breakfast included and (proper) tea and coffee available 24 hours- great for non coffee drinkers. It's a 10 minute walk to town but only 2 minutes to the T station. There are restaurants on Cambridge Street, again a short walk away. The area isn't bustling at night but we felt quite safe.

We had a very pleasant stay at Hampton Inn Boston-Cambridge. It is not a fancy place but the room is clean, bed is comfortable and staff is friendly. They offer free wifi and breakfast which is quite good. It is also convenient if you take transit -- 2 min walk to the green line. Only Downside I can think of is that the neighborhood is quite deserted at night.
We are satisfied with our stay. Compare to the hotel prices in Boston, this place is really great value.

We arrived at this Hampton after having spent the last four nights in the HI in Bath, Maine, and the night previous to that in the HI in Portsmouth, NH. Both of those were good representatives of the Hampton Inn brand. Clean, modern, comfortable beds. The one in Portsmouth is spanking new, super nice. So we were shocked to find the Cambridge HI to be an old dingy motel (the lobby is fine but that's where anything close to Hampton Inn expectations ended). Our room on the second floor smelled bad, was dark, and really unpleasant. Our daughter was to stay with us, she's six months pregnant and felt claustrophobic and nauseous in the room. I went down to ask for another room and was told they had no other rooms with two beds and all the rooms were the same size and lay out. Also, my husband sat on the upholstered bench and immediately felt wet, when he stood up the indent where he had been sitting was filled with water - who knows what they were trying to get out with that amount of water. We could not stay.
On the plus side, the front desk gave us no resistance when we told them we were checking out and did not charge us. I'm pretty sure we were not the first disappointed guests who refused to stay.
If all you care about is money, this is a pretty good deal for Boston, especially because parking is free and will set you back almost $40 a night at some other hotels.
We ended up here at the DoubleTree where we were upgraded to a really nice suite with a large terrace. Sweet. Including parking, we are probably paying about $75 per night more than the Cambridge Hampton Inn, but to us its well worth it.
Again, the people at the Cambridge HI are very nice. But the hotel is not Hampton Inn quality, I'm surprised Hilton allows this property to carry the name.
