Trattoria da Silvano is the type of trattoria one found in the past and is disappearing quickly : great quality, traditional dishes, nothing overly fancy, absolutely NOT trendy, but excellent food at a price that is difficult to find today around Milan. Apart from the main a la carte menu, we found two complete menus of the day: one fish and one meat, either for 20 euros (drinks excluded). There are appetizers (endless!), a choice between two first courses and a variety of grilled fish as a second. Needless to say, everything was very good, especially the polipo con patate (octopus with potatoes). The wine list is carefully chosen from small producers in various northern regions. The service is excellent (although it was not crowded at the time), and the waiter speaks very good English (a plus not to be taken for granted). The only drawback is that parking is scarce and the restaurant is on a dead-end street. But it's worth it the walk from anywhere in the vicinity, even if means leaving the car at the post office (3 min walk).
