Etoufee and Po’boys with AMAZING bread!

-----
-----

We visited New Orleans and Florida between Christmas to New Years.

As I walked the dog in the morning we passed Mother’s. A search on Yelp late shared that they have a wide menu.

We walked in and ordered and they delivered to our van when the food was ready. The internal atmosphere was nice and the staff wonderfully friendly.

We took our time getting checked out of the hotel, and sought to get food and watch the Mississippi roll by for a few minutes before heading off to Florida.

Crowded parking transpired against us… so, the kids ate their great Po’boys as we drove across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway… and once we got to the other side and parked for a couple minutes my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed their etoufee - so good… so fresh… nice!

Thank you, Mother’s

The inside of the restaurant is small, but they did their best at distancing the tables. We were ordering our food to go as we were staying just around the corner.

Everything we ordered tasted very good. They forgot our french fries, but since we were so close I walked back to get them. I called before I left and they were ready and HOT when I walked in the door to pick them up. Mistakes happen and they handled it well.

I got the small Jambalaya and it was very good.

Pass on the “world famous baked ham” and go for some of the creole/Cajun food. We are a Midwestern family. My daughter loves ham, so we thought that was a good compromise to ensure that everyone would enjoy something on the menu. She ordered the ham and was very underwhelmed. I tried some too. It tasted like what we make at home. Maybe it’s famous for being average? Now, the seafood on the other hand...my wife and I ordered the crawfish étouffée and it was amazing! My sons ordered breaded shrimp and shrimp creole and they could not stop raving either. The restaurant is not in a great location. It was safe but very urban. I was thankful it was a nice day, because we had to wait outside for lunch on a weekday.
