Took friends to classic New Orleans breakfast of beignets and cafe AuLait. Always a line, but it moves quickly. Part of the Jackson Square experience. Don’t miss

There is a reason this place is so well known! Be prepared to wait for your beignets, when we went the line was about a half an hour long! We decided to get ours to go and ate them in Jackson Square. Definitely worth the wait, very yummy!

Beignets are a staple here. One order will get you 3 if these - plenty for a group of 4.
Their chicory coffee is outstanding. I like the bolder, richer taste versus a regular cup of coffee.

Couple of things of note.
1. Service is slow and CASH only.
2. Go there before 8 AM to avoid waiting in line.
3. Bathrooms are atrocious.. my wife walked in and walked out immediately.

Still a famous landmark & worth a 1 time visit

Beignets are basically big puffs of funnel cake with a scoop of powdered sugar on top, but they're delicious and you can't come to New Orleans without swinging by! Yes, swinging by. Don't get discouraged by the super long lines that are there every single day. All they offer is basically beignets, coffee and other refreshments, so people really only come in there for a quick breakfast or snack. Both times I've been the line was way down the block, but we really only stood in line for about 10 minutes. Then the service is super quick and we were only sitting for about 15 minutes. Definitely worth it! Also they're CASH ONLY.

First timers never know what’s going on when waking into Cafe Du Monde. Here’s a helping guidelines - there are two line (if there are long which they usually are) one for carry out and one to dine, make sure you know what line your in. If no line to sit inside or it’s your turn you just grab the open table and sit they take care of the rest. Note: for 2 people one order of beignets is more than enough!
This is a staple of New Orleans and totally worth going to try!
