I just came back from the Edgewater. The hotel is lovely and well maintained with beautiful decor in the common areas, hotel rooms and great views of the lake. I would stay there again.

We had lunch at Augies Tavern, which was great. The lobster bisque and the meatball flatbread were very nice.

We stayed in a room with beautiful views of the lake, a large bathroom including large shower, fridge, safe, good coffee maker, robes, great sheets and nice lighting. Housekeeping appeared excellent.

The spa and fitness center are in a separate building yet attached through a tunnel to the main building of the hotel. The spa has a relaxation pool, massages, facials,
pedicures etc. I had a great massage with Dylan and enjoyed the relaxation pool and steam room. The locker room is well-maintained and the amenities are very nice. The staff is great and very thoughtful.

My only disappointment was the way that our one request was handled. We asked early this morning for a late check out today. I know that's not always easy to grant and understand that. The woman managing the front desk provided an extra 30 minutes until 12:30 PM. She might benefit from demonstrating more grace in dealing with customers. The guest before us was a bit challenging to her, which I would not have appreciated either. However, there was no need for her to be curt with us as a consequence. She could have said to us that she wished she could offer a later checkout but unfortunately she could not accommodate much of one today. Instead it felt like she was doing us a huge favor. Her behavior seemed to be better fit a hotel much less polished than the Edgewater. I've had more pleasant and personable customer service at the Madison Doubletree and Fluno Center where they were nice, thoughtful and genuine. I expected better and her behavior was inconsistent with the rest of our experience there.

Overall this is a fantastic hotel and if you have the opportunity to stay there, I don't think many would be disappointed!

This hotel has great views of the lake, but if you're in the Langdon Building you have to take a long tunnel to get to the dining room (with one of the most spectacular views)--a tunnel reminiscent of the Pentagon or a missile silo. The rooms are well appointed with adequate outlets for all your devices (a prime requirement these days) and excellent showers, but you can connect only one device for free and have to pay an exorbitant fee for up to two others. This is a ridiculous policy.

Room Tip: I stayed in Langdon and had an excellent view.

Dear FineGueule46,

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback regarding your recent stay. I apologize for the confusion regarding your wifi device access, we certainly do allow more than one device to be connected during your stay. We will be addressing this matter with our reservations and front desk staff so they can properly inform guests about wifi access at check-in. Thank you again for your comments, we hope to welcome you again to The Edgewater soon.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Great value. Perhaps it’s because it is a little smaller market, but the room was first class at a very reasonable rate. Quiet. Lovely view of the lake. Location is very nice—about a three-block walk to the capitol building and other downtown restaurants. Will return.

great place to stay! very nice and clean rooms, nice staff, walking distance to a lot of places, and great views. The only complaint that I have is that it is a little difficult to find the street it is on (but just plug it into the GPS!)

5-STAR Hotel... We loved the location with such an incredible view of the lake. Being our first visit to Madison and staying at such a great hotel has made this trip that much more memorable for us. We would definitely return back for so many reasons, the lakeside king bed view was amazing and the comfort of the room was incredible. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and work colleagues. The attention to detail in design and restaurants are incredible along with the delicious food. We also enjoyed room service and loved the attention to detail with the flower in a case was a really nice touch. The bathroom was by far the largest I have ever seen for a hotel. Loved the walk in shower and separate tub.
