I travelled with 6 adults and 4 kids. Booked 3 classic rooms with MAP plan for 2 nights 3 days.
This is a detailed review so if you are planning your visit to this resort I would suggest you read further.
About Property: Very Old with no view. Front side facing Mumbai Pune Highway, backside facing garbage dumped bungalows. Bathrooms are old, fittings are leaking and ample of mosquitoes.
Amenities: Rooms with working A/C, electric kettle. Nothing else I.e. no room service, no kids play area they call as "Holiday Activity Centre". Although they do provide you with carrom board in your room if you request. We had setup the carrom board on 2nd floor passage lobby for us and other guests to enjoy. Fridge don't work. Extra bed is not worth paying extra for. They are foldable sofa which are not even aligned when unfolded making it uncomfortable to sleep on.
Food: They provide a good spread and the food quality can be rated on a scale of 7/10. They are acutely short staffed I.e. 2 persons against 10 tables. Due to being short staffed orders get delayed by 20-30 mins which leads for a sad experience.
I am no food critic but felt like manchow soup was made using tomato soup left over with lots of red chilli powder and paneer butter masala was made using tomato puree. Thw 2 staff serving at the restraunt were very courteous and understood the issues well.
Parking: Free parking, but no dormitories available for drivers. This is mentioned on their invoice after you confirm the booking. They will assist you to book a room for your driver at their resort or nearby resorts. The rooms are not cheap compared to dormitories cost in resorts.
PLUS They have a policy that they do not allow drivers to use public washrooms in resort and are asked to use washrooms either on road or nearby hotels. This was personally confirmed by Mr. Sreejidh V M the GM for Sterling Lonavala. We had a very heated argument with him about this Inhumane policy and he didn't budge claiming this to be the covid policy of sterling lonavala. So be cautious if you are having a driver and planning to stay at this resort they are Inhumane and racist for this policy.
Why Racist and Inhumane?
Drivers are not allowed to use their public toilets. Rest all their staff including security guards can use. All the guests coming for a dinner or a party at their banquet hall can use. We requested them that they follow all standard covid prevention norms like temperature scanning, sanitization, oxymeter check and anything else they wish to process but they did not budge from their inhumane and racist policy.
With such an experience I will never visit or recommend this property and will think twice before selecting sterling properties PAN India.
This property does not deserve Travellers Choice 2021 tag. Whoever has certified this tag to them please visit this property in person and not just based on reviews from selected guests.
