Extended family members came together for a wedding in the Pigeon Forge area. After much research we decided to rent this cabin nestled in the hills 8 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge.
The cabin is located in a resort community of similar accomodations beautifully located atop a hill giving most cabins spectacular views of surrounding hills and woods which were aflame with color this time of year. The cabins are spaced well enough apart which maximizes privacy. No need for a formal check in. When the cabin is ready (3:00pm is official check in time) the Resort staff will contact you with the access code that unlocked the front door.
This cabin (Fire in the Sky) with it's 5 BRs and 4 Baths spread on each of 3 levels worked perfectly for our group. The interior (all wood and stone) gave a sense of warmth and comfort which was amplified when using the surprisingly effective main gas fireplace. The main living area is an open concept (kitchen, living area and dining area) in which large groups (we had 20 at one point) can comfortably gather.
Two constructive comments for the Resort. 1) Everything worked as promised however the lower level was demonstratively cooler with the heater running. Since this is exclusively a sleeping level it was not a problem for us however it could be a concern for some folks. 2) We did not use the theater because it only works with DVDs. Our recommendation would be to connnect it to cable or satellite to expand usability (it would be perfect for sports viewing for example).
In the end we were all impressed by the cabin and resort management and will consider Elk Springs Resort for future get togethers.
