Started my trip off very well with its hospitality and great customer service

Breakfast was amazing!! Staff treated me very well and made me feel extra welcomed! The ambience of the hotel walking in felt very unique and interesting. I felt like I was entering a history museum at first and then it felt like I was in a scene from a movie. A great place to come if you want a classic touch of architecture and design

Not much noise from outside but lots from guests. Staff did deal with noise early one morning.

Its 10 minutes walk to Greenpoint subway, or 15 to East Ferry or 25 to nearest 7 train in Queens.

The bar is quite ok, but did not have much interaction with staff. Rooms always serviced later like 4.30 pm despite signs on doors.

Loft suite was ground floor and not a loft with only small skylight. Had full kitchen.

Breakfast was basic but OK.

Overall ok but very expensive. Not a bad neighborhood really and lots of places to drink and eat.

Probably would not stay again though...

My husband traveled solo to take care of sundry stuff in NYC. Usually he stays at the sister hotel The Henry Norman (which is great), but they were booked. The hotel is deep in the heart of Greenpoint Brooklyn near coffee shops, however public transportation is far and unreliable. The loft suite was okay. A bit worn and there were flies in the room. Sliding door in bathroom didn’t work properly. Internet was unreliable- I was constantly getting kicked off. Has a fitness room and a restaurant on the premises which I didn’t try. Staff were great and accommodating. Overall a pleasant experience, but nothing exceptional.

This review is way overdue! I was able to book a very last minute room at the box house hotel after that whole mess with delta went down and my flight was canceled - leaving me stranded in NYC for 3 days. After a very long travel day, I walked in around 11pm and was greeted by Angelina who was absolutely the sweetest person. She was just so friendly and had a big smile on her face and it was nice to be interacting with someone like that after dealing with craziness and negativity all day.
She allowed me to do a late check out because I was checking in so late and that alone made me so happy as i’m a later riser and was exhausted. I was put in a really nice loft room which was genuinely so spacious, clean and very uniquely decorated. Bed was so comfortable and the A/C got nice and cold. I felt safe too (was traveling alone).
This experience was all because of Angelina, she is such a sweetheart and you guys are lucky to have her! Thank you girl!

Nice looking hotel, Nice room, customer service non-existent. We were placed into a loft room that was very nice, except that the loft area was over 90 degrees. Cranked the air conditioning thinking it would cool the room off while we went out. Came back a few hours later and downstairs was chilly but loft temperature had not improved. Went down to front desk and told the young lady at the desk about the room issue and she said, "what would you like me to do about it". A gentleman behind the counter heard her response and asked me to wait a minute while he finished checking in a guest. He told me that he would go to the room with me as there was an air conditioner upstairs I must not be seeing. He went upstairs and agreed it was too hot to sleep up there and there was no air conditioner up in the loft area. He left and came back about 10 minutes later and offered two options, move to the top floor, but there was a wedding going on up there and he said it is quite noisy, or stay in the room as there were no other rooms available. Since there was really no option we stayed in the room. He offered a breakfast coupon for service that starts at 8 for our inconvenience. We had to be checked-out by 7:30 for previous plans, so coupon was of no use. $320 for a night of no sleep and at checkout we only got a "thank you for staying with us"! Maybe a hotel with nice looking rooms, but taking care of customers is not their thing!

When you enter from the entrance, you become a different world. The ambience is amazing. When we were there; two very kind people was in the reception: Justica&Martin. They helped us very much and they were so fast with all paper work. They were really amazing.

Room tip: Ask for the wedding. We have a party upstairs but they were really kind to finish the party at 11pm
